You cannot remove the Working light called the Preview light and it will only turn off when you load another light. Ctrl + L to toggle it off/on
Simple, add a light.
The default 'headlight' is only present if there are no other lights in the scene. If you place even a single light, the headlamp ceases to be used. Without any lights at all you'd get a black render of absolute nothingness, which isn't generally all that useful unless you're strictly using ambient colouring.
If this is what your aim is, then I recommend using the UberAreaLight plane. Adding it also adds a 'headlamp blocker' into the scene which serves as a null lamp to remove the default lighting. You can then delete the actual area light without losing the blocker.
Or - if you want the "black silhouette against a backdrop picture" effect: add a light and set it's intensity to 0.000000001 or something like that.
Or add a spot light and point it away from everything.
I load a point light and place it way over there, so it doesn't affect the scene. Plenty of ways to get the same results,
This no longer seems to be the case with 4.9. I add a point, and it just 'adds' to the default lights in scene.
Can someone answer the original question for the latest verison of Daz? I want NO lights, then start to add my own from there.....thanks in advance!
Go to the Editor tab of Render Settings, in the General group set Auto Headlamp to Never, in the Environment group set the environment Mode to Scene only. Save a scene or a Render Preset (File>Save as) and load that to start work each time (you can use Edit>Preferences>Scene to set a particular file to load on File>New).
Still seems to be on.
Are you sure it is not the camera light? I've been caught out with that before. I usually set it to always off.
