Ever come across a product when you shop and you could of sworn you bought it already. Then you continue to shop. Then come across it again and the same thing happens over and over? This happens to me everytime I see Linda Ponytail Hair for Genesis 3 and 8 Female(s). I keep meaning to get it and it isnt on my wishlist because I keep telling myself, "You have enough darn pony tails!".

It is probably true.  You probably do.  But the Linda Ponytail is one of the best their is, so...  there is that to consider ;)

I have a slightly different problem, in that there are some products that I'm powerfully tempted to buy every time I see them, despite not really having a use for them. The monster truck is one example. Most of my renders are medieval/fantasy and/or mundane slice-of-life comedy. What the hell would I do with a monster truck? I don't know, but I've got to have it.

Ahhh but have you explored medieval/fantasy comedy, with a monster truck that'd be gold!!

I wound up buying most all Edwardian, Cowboy, Victorian, Egyptian, Viking, Pirate, and so on products from Generation 3 all the way up to Genesis 8 because I can't remember which I have and which I don't. Also the accessories and props can vary between them too. So now that I own them all it's not a problem anymore. laugh

I'm very thankful I'm not near as compulsive a collector when it comes to characters and hairs.

  • I thought this was a Disney movie. Sorry.

I am pretty sure there is mundane slice-of-life comedies you could do in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Okalahoma, Kansas, Iowa, North & South Dakotas, Minnesota, Michigan, Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, North & South Carolinas. And that would also give you parts of California, Oregon, Washington, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Vermont, Rhode Island, Maine, Maryland, Connecticut, Delaware, West Virginia, Hawaii only limited by traffic and size of roads in some areas.

Are you suggesting that monster trucks are a fixture of everyday life in all those states?

Monster trucks are so 90s; before the cost of a vehicle surpassed what many of those people have to pay for a house in those areas. laugh Inflation is real and we're paying. I've not even seen a monster truck on a public traffic road since the late nineties near the Oklahoma - Missouri border.

Folks aren't getting out much now, but pre-Covid that's a pretty common scene in Texas. I live in a town of about 12000 in a county of ~75000 and I will see a monster truck or two every week if I go out. Of course it depends on your definition. If Monster truck means STadium type truck, then you won't see those. If it's a pickup with ahuge lift kit and 36" tires, those are common.

Besides, how many of us actually have a reason to render anything beyondjust wanting too?

Well, you could illustrate the Grantville Gazette science fiction series...

I lived in DFW for a long time just out of college and I saw a couple of monster trucks in that time but not often and never rode in one. That's a congested urban area though. The best time I had in a vehicle with wheels though was in the military when we got to drive a Hummer. As our reserve unit only got vehicle leftovers from WWII & the Korean War we never got to even touch see a Hummer unless we were away from home base for some duty or another. They are much more fun than the Humvees make for regular roads.

I only wound up rendering because I liked the math & computer science behind it initially. I'm not much of an artist at all. Making a good scene, let alone a story, is a lot of work.

Try riding in the back of a gamma-goat (six ballon tires, very short bends in the middle) with a back injury. Some idiot general decided they were the perfect ambulance.

When I drove from Portland OR to Denver CO in Nov 2014, I had an unfortunate meeting, knee and hands with a curb designed for monster trucks at a truck stop and its civilian parking. The big rigs were off to the side and back. The curbs were huge and with snow and ice, I didn't judge it correctly. But get out in areas of the country where folks have to deal with washed out roads on a routine basis, those trucks have a purpose. Not speaking about the ones that are crazy big, but the more reasonable ones.

Since there seems to be some confusion, when I say "monster truck", I mean this:

There are products that I keep shulffling on and off my wishlist. Usually they're things that look really good in promos but I already own something very similar.

Just one example: Yuka. Those promos certainly look good. But considering all the anime style characters I already have, do I really need another one? Probably not, so I kick her off my wishlist... only to put her right back on next time I scroll across her picture.

Yes, that's what I understood. Only saw one on the streets less than a half dozen times in Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri.

I've never ridden in one but they have been repeatedly mentioned in a (very very very) negative fashion by people I know so I am very glad of that!

I personally would have thought the thread would mutate into something about demonically possessed hair extensions, sorta like the Hell Toupee...
