Cross converted Morphs sharing allowed?

Hi, I managed to create a Cross convert using this:

https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-8-cross-figure-resource-kit

Now is the question, I am now allowed to share the created data Folder Stuff (only from my morphs!) with others?

  • No, they are still derivatives of the original and so bound by the license.

No, they are still derivatives of the original and so bound by the license.

But it says "For content creators, this helps customers use your product across both male and female figures."

does that not mean, me as Morph creator can now use the morphs O_o to share them....

    You didn't create the morph.

uhm... I did it with the help of the script.

  • If you had created the original morph (the actual raw shape) then you would have the right to distribute it, and so would have the right to distribute the conversion. Doing the conversion step cannot grant you rights you did not have initially.

    Then you didn't do it.

The script did it, and it is a derivative.

Oh man... and I didnt even wanted money for it, just giving the morph to the Original Product creator, that other users can now use it too :(

    I hate these limits...

    But thanks for answering.

This reminds me of what i see in a VR game community I am part of where you can import DAZ clothing into the game. Users then try to share the clothing saying they created it, which usually means they imported it, LOL.

I just wanted to be nice to others, so peoples who buy it can use it. The original item was for G8F, but when you autofit it on G8M, the bones get deleted and replaced by original G8M bones and all morph sliders will not find the old rigging indeed :(

I just wanted to help and share joy...

But well, when the Rules say no, then no -_-'

    (I'm out of this thread)

  • If you want to offer it to the creator (or to Daz if it's a buy out) that would be fine, since they have the right to authorise distribution.

Hmmm ... no way to share it in such a way that only owners of the original item can use the converted one? There used to be a way to do such things once upon a time, I guess RTE encode/decode is a no-go due to aging tech & other factors?

  • @RichardHaseltine Quick question.

    workflow: (Dev G8F mesh)

pose using sliders dials. to get proper alignment and shape to work out a sculpt on G8F in blender. Export as Daz collada, import to blender, sculpt out the shape I want which is unrecognizable to the initial shape of the dials of the G8F I exported, save as obj in blender, load as morph in morph loader on a zeroed out fresh dev G8F mesh, change the detail names in editor, like location of People/Real World/ Morph character name/ directory, limits, and tab colors, save as morph asset.

    Distribution:

Only the morphs I created this way in a data folder structure. Like data/vendor/product name/morph I created from morph loader add.duf

Shaping preset dufs that increase the dial value to the morph I made this way.

    Is this ok to distribute.

No, if you build on top of other morphs - however little that may be apparent in the end - then you need to strip those out of the final shape and distribute only the differences, with the original morphs being required products to get the final shape.
