Unresponsive Smart Content Panel

Hi.
I apologize in advance - it's been an ongoing issue for me with the (not so) Smart Panel. I'm running Ds 4.6.3.52 Pro edition (64 bit) on a Mac.
On startup, the SC Panel is blank. When I select Genesis, it doesn't recognize it and remains at "No Selection". The Content library shows everything though.
I went through the process of CMS but it did nothing.
Should I uninstall and re-download DS?
There seems to be no end to this problem. Each time I fixed it, it just seemed to "break" again. The SC panel keeps going blank.
Thanks

Have you tried "Process Metadata Que" under "DB Maintenance"?
Is this what you mean by "going through the process of CMS"? https://helpdaz.zendesk.com/entries/22523891-Trouble-shooting-the-Smart-Content-Pane
Yes, Richard, that's it.
Would I select everything on the list?
Would I select everything on the list?yes
I will try that - thanks
Smart Content panel still empty upon launch, whether anything is selected or not. It's completely unresponsive.
I did the DB maintenance, CMS, not sure what else to do. It would help if I could understand why the SC panel broke.
I'll contact tech support but it's always been the Forum that's been the most helpful.
But I'll keep trying....
If it works once and then suddenly stops working it is more often than not something on the PC that has updated and is now turning the CMS Database off as a None Allowed service. The first process to check would be your Anti Virus Software, many will set the CMS to OFF until the user sets it to allowed. Once allowed the Full use of the CMS should return. It can be other OS Apps beyond the Anti Virus that can and will turn the CMS off, but check the AV first.
Jaderail, I'm on an iMac and have no AV.
I had the SC issues before the upgrades to the latest DS version. The pane was populated on launch but when I looked for content in the Content Library the pane would disable and I'd have to relaunch to get it back.
With the latest upgrade the SC pane never populates - so frustrating. I'm not running any other apps, just to see if it makes a difference. I really can't imagine what could screw things up so badly. I didn't even upgrade to the latest version OS just in case. I was really hoping they'd have the issue fixed by now because I'm running out of "fixes".
But I'll keep trying... thanks for your input
I'm not a MAC user and was just hoping to offer a solution. I will flag this thread up for our Resident MAC user. He seems to have his doing render after render and some are so nice he makes me mad... It will be hours yet before he sees the post but I'm sure he will try to help you get beyond this problem.
Thanks, Jaderail!
Much appreciated.

Hello,
A couple of questions to understand the setup:
- Which version of Mac OS X are you running?
- Which CMS (Content Management Server) are you using? Still on Valentina or did you update to postgres?
- Do you have the Apple built in Firewall activated`?
Only if you are running postgres:
- If you start Activity Monitor and filter processes on the name postgres, do you see any running?
Totte, I'm on OS 10.6.8 (Mtn. Lion)
I did download the Beta version but to be honest, didn't install because I wasn't sure about the database and didn't want to lose everything. At that point the CS pane was still working part time as opposed to never.
I believe it's still Valentina since I didn't switch to postgres.
The Firewall has been Off.
I was sent some instructions and an article to read about my CMS issues from tech support. I think I will have a bit of work ahead of me...
Thanks for your help.
OK, first, do the transition to postgres, since I did, I haven't had any CMS deaths. Valentina is a good DB, I've used it since 1999, but postgres plays in another division (I've moved to it from valentina myself, so I know.
So, do the following,
(1) Install postgres CMS
(2) Reimport metadata
Hopefully this will solve all your problems.
Keep me informed, I will help you with mac problems, that's my cup of tea here ;-)
Thanks, Totte.
I will remember you as my Mac resource!
