Is there a rule against buying an interactive license before you buy the associated item?

There are some items that I would have purchased while they were on sale had I known that the interactive licenses would be $8 or $10 now. That said, does anyone know if there is any rule / policy preventing one from purchasing the interactive license first and waiting for the item to go on sale again?

    Is that even technically possible?

I don't think you can. You can only add the product with the license option checkmarked.

Checking the option on product page adds the license to your cart directly, you don't need to add the product to the cart.

I'm not sure how it would work after checkout if you don't own the original product though...

I just bought 2 PA interactive licenses today without owning the product for them yet & 7 PA interactive licenses total today. I will buy the 2 products later, hopefully during the PA sales.

You don't get a certificate or anything for buying an interactive license but a record is kept at DAZ 3D of course. I personally only have records from 3DU & Lady Little Fox where I bought interactive licenses from them directly long ago.

If DAZ 3D lost their records or went out of business I'd be at a loss as to how to prove I have interactive licenses. Even if I wrote down manually what I bought interactive licenses for it would be just my word and a bit of screen shot recorded financial purchase data. I'd need to make screen shots and all that to be very thorough and it's still not optimal. You could say the interactive licenses are bought on the honor system given the lack of issued certificates we receive. I guess I should save my DAZ Studio purchase emails but again, you get no 'Interactive License Certificate' for a product for your legal records once you purchase the interactive license for any product in the DAZ Store.

I am keeping copies of the receipts that they e-mail me just in case!

You can also save your invoice as a PDF file using the "Print Order" button when viewing an order on the website.

Yes, but only the email receipts show what you actually paid for the individual items, which is annoying.

Thanks. I will make use of those PDF print features as there is a big chance I'll not remember some of what I've bought interactive licenses for when I release games or such. A check list of PDFs is helpful. Some items are so minor to a scene you don't even think of them either.

I also find it odd that the order on the store site doesn't show what was actually paid but it's not a big deal IMO.

as was told you can buy the license without buying thestuff, all you have to do i add both to the card then remove the product leaving only the license then after that you auto get the license for be able to use later in a product when it's "price get better discount".

Another trick is aways go first for "bundles" whenever you buy a stuff which is part of a bundle don't buy it's licence buy the bundle license then buy the stuff, it will give you the license for the stuff and all others stuffs for when you gonna buy later anything from the budle and don't need to pay 2 or more times for the license, being a single payment, only  buy the "stuff license" if it is not part of a bundle otherwise go for the bundle license first.
