OT Keep your 3090

I just want a stable version of Windows. More BSOD. System service exception. I try some diagnostics. Running Verifier and it won't boot now, getting an unmountable boot volume error.

  • I assume you mean you have a 3090 installed and had crashes, and now have an unbootable system. Obvious question is did you check the power was adequate? And what are the rest of your system specs?

Is the card a tight fit?

Even if it isn't, is it properly seated in the slot? It can be worth removing and re-inserting even so.

  • No 3090 here. My apologies if the title was misleading. Trying to say if offered the choice of one or a stable version of Windows, I'd go windows all the time. Getting all sorts of blue screens. Always seem to be something to do with drivers.

After much faffery of updating everything and running loads of diagnostics it's turn out that I have a bad dimm slot. I've had the motherboard about about 14 months which leaves 10 months warranty. It's unlikely they will just swap it for a new one after so long, so I'll have to either put up with using 24gb in 3 slots or send it back not knowing how long I'll be without my pc. So stand by for a benchmark for a 2060s paired with an i7 950 if I resort to using my old alienware.

Contact the manufacturer. Depending on who it is they may crossship. But if it is warranty they will replace it.
