Pre-build with 2070 Super $1049

Saw this popup on a pc parts subreddit and thought there had to be at least one person looking for a good value desktop with good iray performance over here. https://www.newegg.com/abs-computer-technologies-ala214/p/N82E16883102985?Item=N82E16883102985

    overpriced imo

  • Don't know about that. Building a rig for $1075 with a R5 3600 and a 2070 Super would have been tricky when those parts were available. ABS could be selling it with absolute trash PSU, RAM etc so its possible its overpriced by a little but just those two parts are $700 retail so there is a lot of value even if the rest aren't that great.

I'm loathe to equiate a 2070 as anything more than a 250 card max now. I wouldn't buy a system like that just as the change over is happening.

If you're desperate for a computer because you don't have one at all, then maybe; but I can't help think you could get better for your cash (including making sure the components you get are decent).

PSU is only 600; you're going to need to upgrade that; going to need to add additional storage.

    My original opinion stands.

Build one yourself shopping around on Amazon & such and you will probably been able to get 2x16GB RAM for 32GB and a 2TB SSD too for about $150 - $250 less than the price of that one but you'll need to put it together yourself. Use PCPartPicker to help you. You'll need to do it during the November sales with the new nVidia & AMD GPUs and CPUs so that prices will decrease for those older CPUs & GPUs.
