I am using an iMac, I installed the Install Manager and he puts a Daz3d My Librarie Folder in my Users/NAME/Shared folder and also on called Daz3d in my Documents folder.

The Install Manager does install all files in the one in my Users/NAME/Shared folder.

Can I delete the one called Daz3d in my Documents folder, since it is not used?

I do not like have unused folders hanging around.

Now to the Daz Studio.

I downloaded the latest version and vial Install Manager installed it.

I have used Genesis in Poser Pro 2014 so have my Genesis Runtime which has the Daz Studio Runtime structure.

It has the Genesis Essnetials and Genesis 2 Essentials... in it.

I have linked my Studio to it but when I want to load for example Aiko 5 it tells me that there is a Duplicate ID and that it might not work correctly, than it does load the figure and all the right dials are there.

Can I ignore this message?

In this Genesis Runtime there is an item called aniBlocks is that needed?
I am must asking because it is not in the Daz3d My Librarie folder.

Gosh so many questions.

Thank you
Petra

DS will, by default, save your files to the \DAZ 3D folder in your own documents folder - you don't have to use that location, but it will open the browser there the first time you try to save each file type.

The Duplicate ID is probably due to a bit of content that needs updating - if you check your log file (Help>Troubleshooting>View Log) just after loading the figure you should see the list of affected morphs near the end.

So I can not delete that Folder in the documents folder even though the Intall Manager is by default set to the path Users/NAME/shared Daz3d My Librarie ?
That folder hast just emtpy folders in it, NOTHING is installed there, it is installed in the other one that was created for Mac.hmmm

I am so new to Daz3d again , I would not even know what to look for in the log files or where to find them and do I need to change things.....

This is very complicated and not as straight forward as it used to be with Daz Studio 3:(

I have used Genesis for Poser for a while now, i used the DSON Importer in Poser Pro 2014, I have a Runtime for Genesis which is in the Daz Studio runtim Structure, can i link Daz Studio to it and would it work?

In that runtime there is a folder called aniBlock, is that important?

Could I copy that runtime into the My Daz Librarie folder?
    So many questions.

You can delete it (I do), but it will get recreated if you save a type of file (under File>Save as) that you haven't saved before. But as long as you change the location you save to you can then delete the unwanted folder again.

Actually - as near as I can tell - DAZ Studio will by default save files to the FIRST DAZ Studio content directory you have defined in your list of directories. And this just happens to be the first in the default list. Go to Edit -> Preferences, select the Content Library tab and then the Content Directory Manager button at the bottom; click on the '+' by DAZ Studio Formats to expand the list.

Then click on the DAZ Studio Formats entry - should bring up an 'add' option on the left. Click on 'add' and browse to the directory you want to save things in. Click on 'Move to Top' to make it the first in the list.

Repeat for the Poser Formats entry (you'll want it in both) and feel free to delete the entry you don't want used.

I've attached my directory list - which is real overkill, dating from pre-DIM configuration - and you can see I don't have the entry for the default in my Documents folder. I just checked, I never deleted the default directory and it is empty; never had anything saved to it. Also, I have everything on a non-system internal drive (D: on Windows -not sure of what it would look like on a Mac).

If you save to a DAZ Studio content directory DS will place the \Data folder files in that directory. If you save to a location that isn't in a DS Content Directory then it falls back to the primary content directory's Data folder.
