The Evil Queen is being...Evil!

If this isn't the proper place for this the mods can feel free to move it to appropriate spot in the forums. I just purchased the Evil Queen set and it's just refusing to cooperate. Whenever I try to load a piece in Studio 4.6, I get an error message telling that it can't find the .dsf files and it loads the piece as blocks. I've had this problem once before and I can't remember for the life of me what I did to correct it. Any tips, hints or outright help would be greatly appreciated!

I would check the zip and make sure the data folder is there (and all its base figures dsf files are in that folder) This is an error you get when they are missing (or also if there's a bad path somewhere)

Did you install using DIM? Are you loading it from the Smart Content pane? The reason I ask is the most common cause for this issue is that the location you installed the content to isn't mapped in Studio, however if you installed the content with DIM it will still show up in Smart Content since DIM adds content it installs to the database.

What happens in this circumstance is that you double click the icon to load the content and studio goes looking for the files it references, but it can't find the actual files in any of your mapped directories.

The first thing you want to do is check to see where you have the DAZ Install Manager installing your content to (specifically check to see where it installed the Evil Queen).

Second check to make sure the location(s) is/are mapped in DAZ Studio's content directory manager.

If you need instructions on how to do any of this let me know.

Oh geeze, I had this problem once before too with the dragon and I'm trying to remember how I fixed it.

From what I recall I was trying to load the figure from a duf file that was for a previous version of the figure that was made incompatible by an update to the figure. I believe I fixed it by locating the correct duf file and deleting the old outdated one.

Thank you for your quick reply! I didn't install the content using DIM...I have enough trouble with technology as it is...and just unzipped the file and placed the folders manually. It was a drag and drop into the Content folder the first time and a manual placement of each folder the second time, after I deleted all the folders from the first try. I'll try fishing around in the content directory manager and see if that might be the problem. I find this sort of odd as I've done this with dozens of products and this is the first time I've ever had this issue. I'll keep you posted on my progress. Thanks again.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't think that's the problem here as this is a new clothing set for G2F figure. I've probably just put something somewhere it doesn't belong or something. By the way, I've been enjoying your work, as usual, and have been having fun with the video games.

Okay, problem solved...and do I ever feel stupid. I was putting the data folder into the wrong data folder in the main tree. See? I told you I had problems with the technology! Anyway, thanks for all the help and suggestions from everybody. To anyone who has been thinking about getting this outfit and hasn't, I'd highly recommend it. It's really cool! I intend on making some spooky renders using it...now that I've got all the kinks worked out of it.

I had that happen when a vendor's name changed its spelling for the data folder. Putting new content into an older folder with the old spelling Did Not Work. So that vendor now has two folders in the data folder collection. A simple enough fix once one identifies the problem.

So Lord Ganthor -- as an owner of the Evil Queen set, are you planning to do any renders with a seated figure wearing this outfit? If so, do you have any recommendations on how to get the skirt to "sit" too? That's my major problem with Neftis' beautiful dresses -- they don't seem to "sit" that I can see! That's what's preventing me from purchasing Evil Queen...
