Why can DAZ studio search find nothing

Why can the DAZ studio search not appear to find anything ?what ever I type it never finds anything not even something I know is ok because its already in the scene.I also have poser 2014 installed with over 300GB of stuff i can find stuff manually (with difficulty) but searching comes up with nothing .Ive just re-downloaded a number of items i bought from here and used the instal manager in the hope DAZ would find them but no luck.but again searching comes up with nothing,I was hoping it would be similar to poser just type in the name and tick the categories to look in but it dosnt seem to work like that in fact ican get it to work at all any idea what i might be doing wrong?

    Sounds like there is an issue with your data base. I've had that happen to me before. I suspect my flaw was having studio running when I did installs as I have read that may nerf it.

    a few possibilities:

    One, it can sometimes take a long time to search, and there's no indication that I can see to tell you if it has finished and not found anything or is still looking. I have in the past thought it didn't find anything, only to wander back to my computer later and see search results that showed up after I stepped away.

    Two, there are two different search modes, File and Database, that you can choose from the little dropdown icon to the right of the search field. I've always been a little confused about these because one returns the result I would have expected from the other option, and the other option doesn't. I just pick a thumbnail I can see and try the search, if it doesn't find it, then switch to the other search option, then from then on just use that one that I know finds what I expect.

    Also, the match isn't the exact phrase you type; sometimes it returns other thumbnails with a similar name in addition to the one I thought I was searching for.

    ok i will give that a try the vast majority of my stuff is in poser i can find it by browsing but that takes time I installed 10 items fresh from here at DAZ via the download manager to default location no results I will give it more time to see what happens

    Gave it 20 mins to find anything called genesis never found anything it seems to be a pretty useless search function to me

    Are you currently using the Valentina CMS or PostgreSQL CMS?

    Do you install with DIM. stand-alone installers, or manually extracting zips?

    all the stuff i put in poser was done by manually extracting the zips , today i downloaded and installed DAZ studio a fresh install never previously been installed on this pc and then added some stuff from here via down load manager ,example felicity for v6 if i find it manually it will work just fine but a search for felicity finds nothing, for this one everything is at default locations nothing was changed.

    Are you finding them in Smart Content, Content Library > Products/Categories, or Content Library > DS Formats/Poser Formats?

    I just search in the box top right content for felicity is DAZ content under file and data base

    I can see from the image that DS isn't communicating with the content database -- note that on the left side of the Content Library pane it lists DAZ Studio Formats, Poser Formats and Other Formats, but it doesn't list Products or Categories. At your first red arrow it points to the database icon -- use the downward-pointing arrow to switch it to file and see if it works then (I don't recall if search works on files when it can't contact the database, but it definitely won't work in database mode).

    What firewall do you use?

    ive switched it to file made no difference windows 7 fire wall which just as a test I had tried turning it off also made no difference
    trying to use the tab that says smart content dosnt work either typing in the box brings up a X as soon as I type the first letter the other box (2) is greyed out and will do nothing

    Click on the Options menu (the square with 4 horizontal lines and an arrow) in the upper left corner of the Content Library pane -- if the "Start CMS" option isn't grayed out, click it and see if Categories and Products show up in the Content Library pane.

    Those options are greyed out, how do i make them available?

    I had a look in the administrative tools and found the DAZ content manager service was disabled changed that to automatic and now DAZ can find some things which is a start , stop or start cms are still greyed out ,but at least I get a progress bar now as well so I can see how the search is doing.

    - search show nothig...

    it happened just after "SAVE SCENE"

    input know data name and result on content library show nothing,

    solution;
    without restart the search

    you can found the result simply by click to another selection window e.g. "parameters" or anything other and go back to "content libtrary"
    search result are show.

    some time it need to do this twice or three, depend how fast and nervous you are.. :-)
