Transfering rigging to Up-Res'ed geometry

Hi, I'm trying to up-res the geometry on some props but I'd like to keep the rigging. I do the following:

export obj from prop. In Zbrush subdivide twice and export that mesh.
Go back to Daz and import my up-res'ed geometry
convert prop to tri-ax weighting
use transfer utility to transfer rigging selection sets etc.

I get the basic bend controls on the parts of the model but not the top scope level controls which are macro driving multiple bends on the subparts. I think these are called ERC channels yes?

Anyway they do not seem to be transferring no matter what options I choose. Am I missing something? Is there a simpler / cleaner way to do this?

thanks

Though I cannot help with your question I would like to know why you can't Sub-D (subdivide the mesh inside Daz Studio? It would save all that trouble?

Have you tried using Edit>Figure>Geometry>Update Base Geometry? I'm really not sure if that will work here, it's not a feature I've used and I suspect it will fail.

I did try that yes. It did not work. The reason I want to up-res the base geometry is so I can sculpt higher res details in Zbrush. Daz will only let me export/import the base level mesh (0 subdivision level in the case of subdues)

Simply subdividing the mesh won't do it, If I can sculpt on that subdivided mesh and import it back in with MorphLoader.

You can't manage with a displacement map instead of a morph?

No, displacements aren't enough, I want to sculpt some small scale details for close ups.

Displacement would handle fine detail, unless you want to have undercut detail (displacement moves only in and out along the surface normal).

Yes, I do realize displacements can accomplish some of what I'm looking for, but I would like to be able to sculpt actual higher res geometric detail.

My real question is why does the transfer utility not transfer the Top Scope level Morphs/Macro bends driving the child scope's bends, and is there some way to do that? Or is there some other method for transferring the rigging to higher res geometry without rigging from scratch.

    Thanks

I'm not certain. but I would think that Transfer Utility is working only on actual transforms and morphs (geometry modifications, with deltas and/or weight maps) rather than pose-controls (master parameters that control other parameters). Theer is copy-and-paste functionality in the menus for parameter adjustments, but I don't know if it would help here - it should certainly be possible to script the transfer of ERC set ups, though some aspects might need to be deduced as they may not be in the DS3 documentations.
