riging obj clothing from blender to daz (I have more questions)

I'm trying to create clothing over a figure

I export gen8 as an obj into blender

model a prop around the figure

delete the figure

export the prop as an obj out of blender

import the prop into studio

position it on the figure

use the transfer utlity

and it the result move down on the figure

what am I doing wrong?

it needs to load already in position to use the transfer utility

one way I fix this is

    convert prop to figure,

    move it using the bone

then convert figure to prop again before using the TU

Another option: export the positioned item as obj again, then load the new version and use transfer utility on that.

ok, so I was using the josie morph, and modeled it in blender for josie, and that's when it did this

as soon as I fit it (awkwardly) to stock "morphless" Gen8, then exported that obj from Studio, re-imported it and used TU it appears to fit the way it exported out of Studio

how do I make this fit a morphed figure?

Load the morphed figure and your obj modeled for it. Launch the transfer utility, and select "shape: current" for the source figure, then check "reverse deformations" in the options. This tells transfer utility that is was modeled for current shape and that it has to take that into account when creating the rigged figure.

    ok, forget the last post

so I'm still not 100% but what appears to work but apparently no correctly is

josie, make favorites of the custom body morphs

zero josie to stock gen 8.

    fit object to gen 8,

    export only the object,

reimport the obj to gen 8,

TU and set the Morpht Targets to Source: Favorites

make conversion with TU which parents the model to the figure

change the figure back to josie

zero out all the favorites in the converted model

It works, but should this be how it works?

I don't see reverse deformations.is it an option that only appears if I select specific things in my source and target drop downs?

Looks like I misremembered the name, it's the one called "reverse source shape from target"

a bit "scratchy" but the closest ive got. I just wanted to make a very basic shape, I can detail later. the might need some more geometry. if you have any ideas let me know

    and really, thank you!

ok, it liked the extra geometry, now I need to reference what real clothes look like.

I spoke too soon. still getting jaggies. what am I doing wrong?

Should I only me modeling directly for base geneisis8 not using the other figures like Mei, or Josie or Aiko when I'm fitting clothing on their base models in blender?

I'm not intending to be rude but I ran into more issues and bumped this hoping someone knows the solution.

yes modeling on the base figure is much easier. You can then adjust the morph to fit your Josie figure after its made into a conformer.

    I'll keep messing, thanks!
