Open your attachment in a new tab, right click copy link location. Then click on the gears beside your comment to edit. Click on picture icon and paste link location into URL. Make sure your maximum dimension is no more than 800 (you can adjust), then hit ok.
That's far better quality than my 'production standard' ! Go on, enter it ! You know you want to !
P.S. Once you've done that do NOT delete the original attachment. If you delete it everything will probably still look okay to you but nobody else will be able to see your image. They'll just a broken image icon.
You can also upload your image to the gallery and hotlink from there.
I've had problems with image compression in the past when attaching images to a forum post.

Hey @Saphirewild, with the DAZ gallery temporarily down my entry has disappeared (it was a hotlinked gallery upload), do you mind if I go change the post in the entries thread and attach the image to the post?
@Hylas I'm not sure when Saphirewild will have time to respond but given the circumstances I would say go ahead, and anybody else who encountered this problem as well
