Install Manager Thumbnails

Okay, it's great that the Install Manager now allows for the downloading of the product thumbnails...
But where is it putting all of these files?
And what can I do to actually use them? Having them only appear on hover over is kind of useless to me.
Is there a way to export a list of products, along with the thumbnail and tags?
Comments
with a default installation mine are at C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\Thumbnails
as for the later q sorry can't help but would like to know if it is possible myself.
Thanks! I was hunting around and getting frustrated with the number of directories that DIM populates. I don't know how I overlooked this one.
I am experimenting with exporting the data to a spreadsheet and then easily linking to the image files. Will post back if I have any reasonable progress.
sweet thanks
You can export all that are checked by going to installed tab, select all, right click, export to CSV. It won't export the thumbnails though
Where are you even seeing the thumbnails in DIM? When I float the mouse over a product, I get a popup with a bunch of textual info about the product (name, ID, size, package date, etc), but no thumbnail. DIM hasn't been putting anything in the Thumbnails directory, either (downloads and manifests DO have items in them).
Select all installed, right click, pick download / update thumbnails. That should bring them all down.
Yeah, I got that one. It's mostly useless though, since the information that gets exported isn't really useful for anything.
That's where I thought I could find an easy way to connect the thumbnails to the item description.
I just don't understand why the Install Manager doesn't have some obvious functionality that would make it so much more valuable.
For example:
1. Alternate styles for viewing installed items. Like a grid with thumbnails.
2. Making use of the meta data that is already being downloaded. Like showing what files are associated with what models.
3. Making use of the sorting data already used on the website. Like showing which products are people, clothing, buildings, fantasy, sci-fi, etc.
The wasted potential just makes my head hurt.
Put in a feature request

Well, it can be done (see the attachment below), but it would have to be done manually, so if you have a large amount of products, it would take a very long time to accomplish.
I'm assuming this is something like what you would like:
Did that once. Never doing it again. It was a bunch of wasted effort. Unless I wanted reasons why I needed to write the request a bunch of different ways.
It shouldn't be harder to do that here then it is to open a bug report at my day job.
Besides, I would think that most of the requests I mentioned would be common sense. If someone at DAZ hasn't already thought of them, I would be extremely surprised / disappointed.

That would be, yes. But I have 3,500+ items. Way too many to do anything manually like that.

I agree, that's why I only picked out 3 to test it.
I'm working on adding an offline promo pic database to the Account Manager. Currently it can download and store all the promo pics from the product pages, but many products have no product page anymore so for these it will have to get the pictures from the doc or library pages instead and that hasn't been implemented yet.

Nice. That is a definite possibility.
I stopped using your Account Manager a year or so ago. I kept getting caught by the periodic application renewal.
I normally need a content browser when I am working offline, so its a catch 22. I realize the application is out of date when I need to use it and don't have a method to update.

It shouldn't be difficult to automate -- the thumbnails are named with just the Product ID, which is one of the export options, so you just need a field which pulls up the .jpg with that number.

The field would have to be coded to find the matching .jpg Product ID with that of the corresponding Product ID column in the spreadsheet. Hmmmmmmm . . .
Yes I can see the problem. I expect to release it as a commercial app in the near future however, that will put an end to the expiration thing. Until then I can make a workaround for you, if you're interested.
Thanks for this info! It helped with another problem where the Install Manager thumbnails are too large to see the whole image. A quick resize Batch in Photoshop and I can preview my library content again before installing it.
This has been an issue since the store sfotware chnaged, presumably it is in some way supplying the wrong data to DIM.
