Length of time to open file
I am using DAZ Studio 4.6.3.50 64-bit Advanced Edition. I have recently noticed that I have a few files that take 20 to half an hour to open. This is obviously a bit unusual and awkward, so I did a comparison with other files and began looking for a pattern - i.e. is there something wrong with the file that I could fix?
The comparison looked something like this:
File 1 = 90,808 KB (includes V4 and ball joint doll figures) - 20 sec. to open
File 2 = 38,377 KB (a Genesis M5 figure) - 1 minute to open
File 3 = 21,677 KB (a modified Genesis M5 figure) - 5 minutes to open
File 4 = 137,000 KB (several figures including V4, ball joint doll, and the modified Genesis M5) - almost half an hour to open.
I would appreciate any suggestions; the file works quite well once it is open but half an hour is bordering on being prohibitive plus I am concerned about the whole thing crashing.
Actually I'm attaching a low-resolution copy of the image I'm working on. True, it does have lots of figures; I'm inclined to think that the "statue" (with an M5 based head) is what's causing the problem though, since I really did not notice problems until I added it.

I don't know why it is slow to open, however if you believe it's related to certain objects in the scene, you could make a copy of the scene and then just start deleting things from the copy until it suddenly speeds up to identify what is causing it. To more quickly narrow it down, pick an item in the middle of the scene tab and delete everything below it, then repeat so you are deleting half every time (minus any groups or objects that instances depend upon.)
The weird thing about it is that I wanted to continue working, adding more figures. Specifically: I added some playing-card-men figures painting the roses over to the lower left of the scene. To make things easier I I deleted everything except the playing-card men, roses, etc and saved it as a separate file . . . but then that file did the same sort of thing - took forever to open even though it was a tiny file. So whatever it is, it seems to infect other things in the scene somehow.
Hmmm. Anything out of the ordinary in the log file that might relate?
HI
do you have other task run in the background?
when you want to work full dedicated Daz or anything related to acquire speedup
Daz can win at least 15% without internet based host in backgroup
- remove/close your internet connection or cable, several host task run hidden
- disable antivirus.
try to see on task manager what application are ON and if you don't need it, just shut down!
because daz data have many small scripts files, a drefrag help a lot!
best way: clean start up
create a user dedicated for DAZ
all automated task (most autoupdate) must be out of the start up!
no internet, no antivirus..
Check the shaders your using, some of them are just "bloatware" and take forever to load from a scene file.
EDIT
Forgot to add that you also have the problem of TDLMake running on all of the textures when the scene is being loaded.
