How to use the HairBlending

I have been searching for a tutoral on how to use the hair blending .  https://www.daz3d.com/oot-hairblending-20-texture-xpansion-for-shirley-hair

And I have been playing with it within Daz Studio.  But I am not getting the results that I am hoping for.

Any suggestions?

  • Are you applying the base/starter presets first? Are you rendering (or at least using Iray preview mode)?

Yes, I applied the base first. And yes, I used the Iray preview.  I did notice there were hightlights on the hair. But not the effect I was hoping for.

Thank you for your help.  I'll keep playing with it.

  • There are 3 intensity settings for the hair blending, and the lighter two are very subtle (you need to run your render past 90% or even 95% converged to really see it).  Also, the highlights tend to show at the ends of the hair style, so the shorter hairs (bangs, etc) don't show the highlights as well as the longer parts of the hair.  I have several hair products from OOT and the hairblending does work.  What I do is set the base hair color (with the hair selected), then turn on hairblending, then select the intensity preset, then select the mask type, and finally select the blending color.  If you use the "surfaces" tab, you should see the mask and blending color show under diffuse settings to confirm that the selections are applying.
