SUGGESTION - New Manipulation Engine: Texture Shaded!
Hi everyone!
I think we're years apart from real-time Iray viewport, and that's fine.
But there's a solution that could drastically improve our workflow!
We already have the option to set a different rendering engine from when we're "manipulating" the scene.
Sadly, the selectable engines are just lines and boxes, so that's not really useful.
But what if we could use Texture Shaded as a manipulation engine?
In that case, I'd use the Iray viewport all the time!
Indeed, I only use it to fix the lights before saving the scene, because it stutters too much while I'm making edits.
The rest of the time, I use the Texture Shaded viewport.
So, if I could always leave the Iray viewport on, but it was as snappy as the Texture Shaded one while I'm moving the camera around or moving some sliders, that would be very cool!

If you're on Iray viewport mode, then you're on Iray viewport mode, and it will have to recalculate the lights, textures and so on any time a change is made.
huh
Not render engines, draw styles. I can certainly see the logic of the request, but if you want to suggest it to Daz you should do so via Technical Support ticket https://www.daz3d.com/help
what I think you mean is an intermediate mode like interactive mode, Octane has for example direct lighting, Unreal has scalability and Blender has Eevee.
We will probably see Filament before they would look at such a request. Maybe, with Filament, the suggestion would be unnecessary.
Speaking of which... @Daz3D: any news?
I was thinking about that too!
