I need some help to understand my rigging mistake :S

Hi everyone, long time since I've posted something in the forum, damn school (LOL joking).

Well, last time I had time to play with DAZ studio was when DS4 was the new stuff and the site got a new look (nicely done BTW), so I decided to catch up with DS and try the new features/tools so I took a model from my study collection and tried to rig it, very nice and easy workflow from the importing to the bone creation and then I found my Nemesis... weight map painting, I played with that tool on Blender but without getting frustrated.

So, I got the model, I got the skeleton/armature but I can't make it work no matter what I do, the model doesn't stick to the bones, I believe I'm doing somethig wrong from the point where I click memorize the figure and go to the weight map brush tools. I was following the online tutorials with the dragon as an example, everything works except for the weight mapping section, noted this:

- My model never turned blue no matter what I click or what I do.
- If I paint anything it will only turn red and won't blend between blue and red, it will be red till it reaches the polygroup boundaries.
- Even painting stuff doesn't reflect anything at the parameters, I mean, you can see the bounding box rotating but not the figure.
- While making the hierarchy I noticed that I wasn't able to select nothing at the "content type" dropdown menu.

Is there something I missed? I believe there was some changes between my version (4.6 I think) and the one from the tutorials. Maybe I skipped a step while making bones?

This is the model I'm trying to rig.

Thanks in advance.

Have a nice day!

BTW: Anyone knows why the tools look pixelated? It's kinda weird haha.

The lack of blue (zero-weight) isn't really an issue - DS is now using "sparse" weight maps to reduce data size, so while they are empty you don't see any colour. To weaken the red (full weight) hold the alt key down as you paint (opt for a Mac). As for the joints not responding - are you letting go of the slider? If not it may simply be that the display isn't updating in real time.

    Hi Richard.

It seems that the problem was actually DAZ Studio, while waiting for an answer I ended upon closing the aplication, minutes later I decided to try with a hi res version of the same model, when I was about to start the weight mapping I noticed a small "loading" apparently a "building something" dialog which wasn't there in the previous try, since the app restart. I'm able to paint, I believe I broke it while trying to import several times or something hehe.

The problem I'm having now is that the toes won't follow the "twist" of the shins kinda like if the toes were glued to the ground, but only happens with that since bending doesn't have that problem. Also, is there a way to repaint red where now is blue?

    Thanks in advance.

    Have a nice day!

UPDATE: Now it's happening with the shin too, I remember something similar happened to me with Poser but in that case the problem was different names at the bone and polygroup.

Update 2: Fixed the shin, Y rotation map was missing, I mirrored that map from the other shin which I cannot do with the toes. 8-/
