Kalaa problem

Ever since installing this product smart content has been locked on it for all gen 8 females. That means I can't limit my search for hair, clothes, etc. I have to go through my whole library to find what I want.  Any idea what happened? I tried uninstall and reinstall. I like the character and would prefer to keep her. Any ideas?

    If this is from today.. it might be that it is not Kalaa.. as I have something that looks like that same problem now.

    What worked for me with this character was selecting her in the Scene tab and then in Edit > Scene Identification changing the preferred base from None to Genesis 8 Female.  However, in my case the problem only affected this character, and not all G8F characters.

    Here it is all G8 f characters..

    We already have "contact" about it in the Technical problem Forum.

    I stay there :D

    That's Freya - what about other characters, or the Genesis 8 Female Base?

    Is this what the OP is seeing?

    only all G8 female figures..incl the G8 basic Not others / V and G m/f

    If I choose hair for G8f (freja in this case) it does work too... (as in is ok)

    G8 male is also ok

    It is only G8 females

    What is OP ?

    The way I solve (go around) it now is to have DAZ sort by creating date

    Which shows mostly G8 on top... but that is not how it should be .

    Problem is solved here

    Had to un install the G8 F starter essentials and install again

    Yes, that would rebuild the metadata that is used for Smart Content.

    OP is Opening (or Original) Poster - the person who started the thread.

    2 succeeded 1 failed

    What does that mean

    Check the log to see what failed - it's probably updating from the servers, assuming it was online at the time, and had an issue with two products.

    At 04:51 on October 7 (MDT), I already sent a help ticket for an issue that seems to be the same as the OP's.
    No response yet. (Excluding automated one).

    This has been fixed by reinstalling "Gensis 8 Female Starter Essentials".
    After reinstalling Kalaa (to confirm reproduction), this phenomenon recurred.

    I saw someone experiencing the same phenomenon in another thread, so I'll add some information.

    [Actions that can Fix the Symptoms]
    This symptom can be resolved by any of the following:
    - Re-Installing "Gensis 8 Female Starter Essentials"
    - Re-Importing Metadata of "Gensis 8 Female Starter Essentials"
    - Re-Installing almost any(*) G8F Character except Kalaa
    - Re-Importing Metadata of almost any(*) G8F Character except Kalaa
    *: The exception is items whose label is displayed as "Charactor" instead of "Actor" on the DS Content Library pane.

    [Additional Note]
    There is no need to uninstall Kalaa.
    It is the installation "process" that causes the symptom, not the "state" in which Kalaa is installed.
    Therefore, performing any of the above actions after installing Kalaa will fix the symptom.
    (I'm using DIM, so I'm not sure if you're using "Connect").

     

    I also identified the cause and made an additional report on 2020-10-28 (UTC) and received a response saying "have reported this to the bug tracker", but it seems that the product has not been updated yet.

    The fix you guys gave me worked, thanks for that, but when I installed the new update, the problem came right back. I guess this means they still haven't fixed her.

    I have confirmed that the problematic part of Kalaa metadata file has been fixed in the update(Package Date: 2020-11-23T15:43:16Z).

    However, according to other threads, there are other products that cause the same (or similar) symptoms. (I don't have them, so I can't confirm.)

    # More essentially, I think Daz should improve the way databases are updated so that mistake in ONE product do not affect ALL G8Fs.
