Backdrop image, how do I make it show up in renders?

Using DS4.6

So I have a backdrop image loaded up onto my stage that I wanted to use as part of the background when I'm rendering, but when I render it disappears, like maybe the 'backdrop image' under the edit menu is just for previews and placement and stuff? So then where do I go to load in a background image that I want to show up on the final render?

When you render to an image format that allows transparency, like .png, the backdrop is in the alpha channel. Either render to a different format (like .jpg), or use your 2D image program to display the backdrop.

Exactly as Mike said, save as jpeg or bmp and the backdrop image will be there as part of the render.

I did that. In JPEG format, it makes the background white, no sign of the backdrop.
