Picking up objects in motion
So, I'm currently working on a Krystal model from Star Fox Adventures (a free-to-use model from an artist) and currently experimenting with her picking up objects, but there's a slight issue. The object in question (let's say a staff or scepter), doesn't follow the motion of her hand, so I'm manually positioning the object as her hand moves. What I want to know is, how do I tell the object to follow or "bind" if you will, itself as she moves her hand or hands? Is it feasible to parent/bind the object as she swings her hand around as I make the keyframes in DAZ 4.6? I know, really random question, but others have told me that it should be feasible, I'd like to know for sure how I can go about doing it. Thanks :)

use two objects for a start
one to pick up another parented to hand
on timeline size parented one to zero and pick up one 100% at start
at pick up point reverse those values
one frame before put in original first frame values
in advanced timeline you should be able to see the keyframes for each
parent by dragging in scene tab or pick parent
object must have a centered pivot point

(I must confess I do not animate in Daz studio much I use other programs)
So, I drag the object to the hand bone in the scene tab, which would be that object's parent, and then as she picks it up, it moves along with the hand? The other option from the looks of it (in that thread you linked) would to create a null object and then parent it?
she will not pick it up, it will be attached to her hand whole length of timeline hence the need for two identical objects you resize in a one frame period..
I do not animate in DS much, other software I use has extra tools such as animated visibility and tracking that can be disabled on timeline but the resizing and substituting over a one frame period should work just as well as visibility as 24 or more fps would be undetectable
Ah so I create two objects, one before she picks it up, and the other at the set keyframe or something...anyways, I get what you're saying, and it's something I need to experiment more with. Thanks for the explanation :D
