Hair-raising search results

Try searching "egypt" in the search bar (110 items), then try to pull "egyptian" up in the genre (204 items), then do a separate search for "egyptian" (243 items) ... 3 different results, with items in "egypt" (a subset of "egyptian") not to be found under "egyptian". Am I missing something?
I would suggest there should only be two different item numbers: those for the genre "egyptian" being 1 (since that is the same word used for the search and for the genre), and the search for "egypt" being the second ... if one insists on keeping that search separate.
Actually, if the word "egypt" had been used as the keyword for everything when properly coding the data, then 1 result would have included all three: (1) "egypt" the genre, (2) "egypt" the search term, and (3) since it the base of the word egypt, it would also have included all results for the search "egyptian."
I have never been satisfied with the search engine, and it doesn`t help drive sales either the way it should (if I am looking for something but can't find it, it`s a lost sale for somebody).
The search engine should be given the proper attention it deserves. It is, afterall, a database (from what I can tell, a faulty and imprecise database).
EDIT1: Additionally, DAZ has not included the 1/2 file (only 2/2) for the "Egyptian Ancient Temple." Looks like the Pharoah`s curse is alive and kicking here on DAZ!
EDIT2: BTW, in order to get a complete number on all searches, I`ve made sure to include all the items I own (using the browser add-on). Owned plus unowned should = all products available.

Complaining about the Daz search engine that came with the old store software is kind of beating a dead horse, isn't it? It's a valid complaint and all, but nothing will be done about it. At this point we'll have to wait and see if the new store software will include an improved search engine.
A Dead horse? That relies on a number of assumptions I see no justification for. Who said that the search engine (database) is inextricably tied to the store? Just because the store is changing doesn`t mean the database or search engine will too. A database can just be ported over. I've seen that done plenty of times. Don't follow your "logic" there. I still see plenty of room for constructive suggestions (not complaining per se) so that this can be addressed. As I said, it`s not just for our sakes, but for the sellers too, and the bottomline of DAZ. Sounds constructive and, therefore, positive to me, not like the negative that you make it out to be.
putting what you want in "quotation marks" does help a lot
Quotation marks only get you exactly what is in those quoation marks (they are used for excluding). Regarding the example I used above, it would be better to just search for "egypt" without quotations because it should then include anything longer, like "egpytian". My point was opposite of yours =)
then try egypt site:daz3d.com in google
I tend to search DAZ Store using google. This pulls up more hits. It is what it is.
yes, true ... the downside being that this will pull up at least 243 separate hits, none of which are accompanied by picts ... unless one takes the time to clicks on 243 separate links (which will take an eternity), instead of just looking thru a DAZ database search that pulls up -- in visual format -- all available products before one's eyes ... if the search engine were running the way normal ones do ....
