Viewport makes DAZ unresponsive for a few seconds

As the title says, I've been having an issue with DAZ for quite some time, I think starting with 4.5, and just never got around to posting anything. Lazy bum.

So as an example, let's say this problem has affected the Surfacing|Rendering window in Texture mode. (this one seems common >.<) As long as the Surfacing|Rendering tab is in texture mode, moving the cursor over an object, causing it to highlight in yellow, will make DAZ unresponsive for 10-15 seconds (maybe more like 5-10, but it feels like forever). As a work around, all I need to do is change the view mode from texture to something else, like smooth. The weird part is, all other tabs are unaffected, even with texture mode on. Eventually the new view mode will go bad, resulting in another swap, though sometimes the previous view mode is no longer affected.</p>

There's basically 3 different stages:
1: Only highlighting an object causes issues, objects and viewport camera can be moved without incident.
2: Same as above, except the viewport doesn't automatically update, and forcing and update by moving the camera will trigger unresponsiveness.
3: Simply moving the mouse over the viewport causes unresponsiveness.

I'm a bit baffled by this, and I can only assume it has something to do with OpenGL, as I can have a scene open with 300+ textures and using a crapton of ram, and no problems. Then I can restart my computer, load up a new scene, load V4 or even a primitive, and on first mouse over this issue shows it's ugly face. I also saw in another thread that AMD cards seem to have trouble with OpenGL, so maybe that's part of it...

So, any ideas on how to pound this bug into smithereens?

What are your settings in Edit>Preferences>Interface? Does switching selection highlighting to Bounding Box only in the Tool Settings pane help?
