Yes, still I don't really understand why the "default" headlight is so high, if I lower it I can't see anything in the viewport and otherwise renders are totally burned.

After you turn the camera Headlamp off, turn on the Preview light with <ctrl>-L — it looks the same in the Viewport, but will not render. This lets you see what you're doing even if the scene's overall lighting setup that looks great in the render doesn't show up well in the Viewport.

There are exposure controls in Render Settings>Tonemapping. Experiment with different settings until you find something that looks good.
