What is the exact error message? Are you using Daz Studio 4? Or another program made by Daz? What are your computer's specifications? Operating system (Windowss 8, Mac OS Lion, 32 bit, 64 bit), how much memory do you have? 4 GB or more?
What objects and characters are in your scene? Genesis 1 or Genesis 2? Victoria 6 wearing a dress, stockings and high heels? Are you using any fancy uber area or environmental lights? Any fancy shading? Look at my hair plugin? High definition clothes or charactes? Dynamic cloth? Please prove as much detail as you can so that we can help troubleshoot your scene.
Actually, if you can post a screenshot of the window in Daz before you render, that would be helpful too. See my example below.
Windows XP 32 bit with 3 GB of memory. Genesis 1 with Lana texture wearing Shieldmaiden.
Lighting: none yet.
Background: Backdrops made easy
Memory usage: ~850 MB.
edit: forgot something.
I just uninstalled and then re-installed DAZ studio and it fixed itself. Umm but the error message had something to do with a file it was C:/daz/temp/data/render/r or something like that and asked if i wanted to choose a new file thats not exact file path but it was something like that. Uninstalling and re installing worked.
Ok, glad you solved the problem. I thought Daz Studio was running out of memory or something. Thanks for sharing the update.
...had an iteresting (and somewhat annoying) issue crop up yesterday evening.
Last week, I had a scene file I was working on become corrupted when the CMS had a fatal crash at the same time I cancelled a spot render which sent 4.6 into a perpetual loop that I had to break out of using Task Manager.
So, I reconstructed the main scene set (sans the characters) using the exact same surface, render, and light settings. However after rendering, I noticed the ceiling of one prop was "hotter' (brighter), while the AO looked both darker and more grainy as well as the colour balance of the prop was slightly was different compared to the last full test render I did of the original scene.
I tried everything including minor adjustments to the lights, AO, as well as shadows and surfaces, but to no avail. Not pleased as I spent a good part of yesterday evening/early this morning for naught and the overall "look" of the scene just is not as good. One would think that by using the same settings the appearance should be the same. It's not like working with say, oil paints and canvas, which can change slightly from day to day due to differences in temperature and humidity and even minute variances in mixing.
Ok lol so now i rendered one scene with it working and now it will render but it only renders the background, hair of the model and the clothing. the model itself is just a white silhouette. ><</p>
This is probably a problem with the AoA SSS shader. I think it is some kind of a bug, but DAZ has not been able to work out a solution yet. It happens from time to time.
First thing to try is deleting everything in the temporary brickyard directory and re-render. See: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewreply/603811/
If that does not work, save the desgin, exit DAZ Studio. Use the task manager to wait for the DAZ process to exit (can be a second on a small scene to several minutes if you had a large scene loaded). Start DAZ up, load the design and re-render.
hmmm I got it fixed i closed daz and re opened it for some reason when i had the view on the camera i placed or whatever it didnt work when i put it to perspective view and put it in the same spot i had the camera looking at it worked. So don't know if its a bug with the cameras in daz or if it just so happened to fix itself right when i did that lol
When you do a render, DAZ Studio compiles your shaders and puts them in the brickyard temporary directory for 3Delight. DAZ Studio tries to optimize this and not re-compile the shaders if they are already compiled. DAZ Studio sometimes get confused and does not recompile when it should.
Also, running two or more DAZ Studio windows at the same time can cause this problem, even if you are only rendering in one of them. This is because all the DAZ Studio windows are using the same temporary directory.
