How do i switch off mesh smoother during animation previews?

Normally it is.
Select the outfit, go in parameter.
In the "General" tab, you should have "mesh smoothing" group.
Just turn off at least interactive update, and if not enough eventually turn off enable smoothing too.
When you will render the final animation, just turn both on before rendering.
