Do these items look good in 3Delight?

in The Commons
I haven't had much luck with Iray to 3Delight converters. Do these items have 3Delight mats, look good in 3DL out of the box, or require minimal tweaking to look good in 3DL?

I'm pretty sure the thief tools will do fine, the emissive parts would need to go into ambient channel and maybe add a linear point light, the metall parts might need a 3delight metal shader.
I could test that for you if you're interested, since I have those.
the other two I don't own. The billboards might be a bit tricky to get the right effet, might be as wel needed aome ambient with them.
the cakes, probably will be fine the PA works with normal maps pretty much. So I expect that to be true here as well.
Thanks for the info, if you could test the thief tools I'd appreciate it.
Here's the cakes right out of the box, with a single distant light:
Thank you
BTW there is a whole lot of 3DL food out there if you look. When I was looking for food to dress a dinner scene a year ago I found way more 3DL than iRay.
here are two renders in 3delight, first one is the tools out of the box still with iray surfaces rendered with one spot and one distant light
the other one was a quick conversion of the surfaces using Marshians reflective raidance for 3delight and moving the screen texture into the ambient channel, I wasn't very accurate with choosing some surface conversion I guess
hope that helps
I've noticed that in many cases the end result looks better with the original Iray materials (in 3Delight render) than manual conversion (by just applying 3Dl shaders). Shiny metals, glass and emissive surfaces naturally won't look good without some extra work.
No don't do that! Unless you like really long rendertimes and super glossy flat looking surfaces.
since I alter a lot of iray surfaces which are already iray before rendering them in iray I would give the 3delight version the same amount of care to make them look astute. There is a lot to gain from that
I was just a bit hurried with those above since I wanted to give the op an idea how they look
Thanks, everyone, this has been very helpful
