I've lost my categorizing AAARRRGGGHH !!!!!

As the title suggest the MONTHS of categorization that I have been doing on my products has somehow gotten lost. It actually seems to have reverted to a state it was in months ago and even products I had downloaded and categorized are now in the uninstalled tab. I would have suspected the categorization data would be stored in the CMS database but am now guessing that probably isn't the case.

A "helpful" person was cleaning up my computer since the C: hard drive was getting full and I suspect wherever DAZ was storing the categorization data might have been wiped out. This would be bad. I am hoping that the data still exists somewhere and that I can re-link it without having to spend nights and weekends re-doing it through 2021.

So the question becomes: Where can I look to see whether the categorization data still exists anywhere and what's the best way to re-link it.

Love DAZ but the categorization of data is the area I would argue needs the most help.

Thanks for anyone who can help.

  • Do you have backups? Were you using the default locations for the database? Had you used the Export Userdata command?

The custom categories are indeed stored in the CMS database. Is the custom category tree still intact, but empty? Or is it completely gone? Is the content still physically installed on disk? Check if CMS is actually running. Look for multiple postgres.exe processes in Task Manager.

Try re-installing something to see if the categorization returns. If the database still exists and was not condensed or reset, the custom categorization might still be available, it just doesn't have anything to attach to if it thinks the product is not installed.
