Maya Bridge vs Blender bridge

I've read that the Blender bridge 2.0 has the feature that it can send over entire scenes to Blender while I haven't read the same functionality for Maya or the other bridges ... is this the added feature for version 2 of the Blender bridge?
From what I see here it looks to me the current Maya bridge only exports and imports a G8 or G3 character and preserve its rig to Maya.
I don't need the rig in Maya, but a way to retain the texture maps after import would be nice. Whatever I do with obj or fbx export I would always lose the texture maps after import to Maya. I had originally hoped the Maya bridge would help with that but it seems this is not what it does.
