Hip Bend Bug?

Hey all, new user

Have just purchased Victoria 8 and have found what might be a bug using 'Hip Bend'. When the hip is bent and then character moved, the character rotation jumps to a new position. Very furstrating!

  1. Select pelvis
  2. Dial up hip bend
  3. Grab a handle in the main window to move character up or sideways
  4. As soon as object move handle for a body part is touched, character jumps to new rotation position

Anyone else experiencing this? rookie mistake? Is there a fix or workaround?

I'm still struggling with many issues myself, but I think I know what your problem is. When you use the handles to move some body parts, you are actually moving them in relation to other body parts. They are all bones linked together, so if you try to move one part in a way that goes outside the limits of that 'joint' the others around it will be affected and react according to their own limits, sometimes cascading to the next joint, and so on.

I find that the best way to move body parts to achieve a desired position, is to use the parameter tab's functions: Bend, Rotate, Back/Front, etc.. They are context sensitive and give you access to the motions that are specific to the selected body part.

I use the handles in the viewport only to make minor adjustments to a pose, like grabbing a foot to make sure it touches a stair, and then I go back to the parameters to fine tune with the functions there.

    I hope that helps.
