Louie

Hi,
Strange thing, I didn't see when Louie was released (October 16, 2020 ?) .
In the vendor page, this product appears before FW Derek HD for Michael 6 released on Sept. 15, 2015

I didn't notice him either but he's today's spotlight item which is a super bonus because I really like him and the price is right
Although I visit the shop every day there is new content hidden in the old stuff.
I also picked up Louie today for a little less than $2. I like this chracter quite a lot. Very nice proportions on him. So glad I found him in the sale and got him.
Lee
Yeah, if you do a search of the front page by "New Arrivals" he's not there. I've noticed that happened a couple other times. If you do a search by New Arrivals there are now several Genesis 8 characters on the very last page behind all the oldest items.
JavierMicheal's stable of Genesis 3 and 8 characters is so unique and distinguished. I wish he were more active.
i'm thkning in buy him then taking the post here, his beard, is "painted"?? or fibermesh like brows??, if painted is "L.I.E??? or painted direct in the "texture map? i means that in case i want to "use it in another characters???
Thanks for pointing him out. I never saw his debut.
it's not fibermesh hair but it looks like the facial hair is a geoshell rather than painted so could be used with other figures
hmmm sounds good if is geoshell then maybe havea big chance to also work outside daz as a "opacity mask which is good.
Yes it and the tattoos are geoshell. There are 3 facial hair options.
Render Coming!
now i'm a little confuse it's fibermesh or no?
It sounds like the tattoos and facial hair all use geoshells.
I bought Louie because I love that PA's work and love Louie's build, it will be nice having a well-built guy in my library who doesn't have traps up to his ears that look like they were stapled on. That's usually one of the first things I have to dial back.
I haven't gotten to install him yet so I'm very interested to see what Daventaki comes up with! A handsome JavierMicheal character for $1.93? Yes, please! I'm delighted to have Louie on board.
(Xander has also been on my wishlist for a while now, in part because I appreciate the promos. You don't often find a male character whose promos show him as a Spartan warrior, a sensual temple dancer (my entire shipment of tea), wearing a cropped track suit, in a silk shirt carrying a gun, and as a pink polka-dotted Mary Poppins. But I am here for every one of those looks.)
I find he looks better with a top down camera..
Not fibermesh. Click for larger images.
I agree but I can't really complain for less than $2. I am going to play with the geoshell hair to see it will look better on close up. Also i don't particularly like the chest hair. He also looks yellow and his eyes look drawn/painted to me but I have plenty of eyes to replace those.... I do like his build and his face shape. Also like the tattoos.
Yeah, at less than two bucks I'm really not going to complain. I have a ton of other matrials I can use, Louie is the rare character that I bought for his shaping (and the tattoos) instead of what gets wrapped around the outside. I really like his build. Still, I'll try to tone out some of that yellow.
What hair did you use, Daventaki? I swear I own it but cannot for the life of me remember what it's called.
Changed the lights its not quite as bad with the yellow. #3 of the facial hair geoshell options.
Its MRL Buzz Cut
The vein in his left eye, distracts me. I think his eyes are interesting though. Very glossy. There is something a bit Dean Winchester about him.
YES, thank you so much! Not one that I own yet, then (though I have similar styles), but one that I've been very aware of. Does it have any adjustment options? I've found a lot of those buzzed/cropped hairstyles pretty much have one hairline, no adjustments forward or backward, no messing with the temples, you'd better just hope it works. I've been wanting something that actually has a lot of those options so that I can kitbash it into shaved side and undercut styles in place of the opacity mapped skullcaps.
The change in lighting does help tone him down, you're right. Now I'm trying to figure out his pink pecs, lol. That geoshell beard also looks better than the last, did you decrease the offset or is it just a combination of lighting + the cut not going all along his jaw?
wow i really loved the geoshell beard is really perfect what i was wanting, i really would wish peoples could also make "eyebrows using geoshell lol, having, geoshell, eyebrows with geoshell beards or both being L.I.E would be a dream, the only one missing would be all female torsos follow the same pattern for the genitalia and using or LIE or geoshell for the default torso genitalia instead of paint it direct in the body texture, well also all the "makeups too would be good if they could follow this pattern.
Since a geoshell is an instance and effectively doubles the poly count, a lot of people don't like them since the can make their computers crash.
hmm sad, in cases like this one where the geo shell proper follow the characer "uv" it can be used outside daz like unreal to create a "instance beard" becauser, instead of the geo shell i will be using the texture then apply it to the character like a "LIE" texture, making this area easy to "customize" and add any "color variation i do want, this is the best way to work with geo shell at last in unreal.
Wouldn't a L.I.E. work as well as a geoshell.... remember the rule of time, cost, and quality... you can get two of those if you are lucky.
yeah to be fair L.I.E. is the best option, because it's basically what you can do outside daz without have to "create extra polygons", it really work perfect, but since not everyone like to use lie specially for "hair" and by hair i means "body hair and beards, not our scalp, then it makes really complicated to use it outside daz specially in game engine, then having those stuffs being handled using L.I.E, would be "perfect" but in some cases geo shell also do the job as long it use the same uv as the skin body part, because not all the geo shell do that i've already saw some geoshell like gloves which have they own "uv" format which not followed the armos uv then it could not be used on that way making then useless outside daz since the geo shell only work inside daz.
No adj options except expand all and then it has a adjustments for the face scar to remove the hair in that area. The longer top is an add on and it has Smooth Top and Widen Front and that is all.
All renders are default. The 3rd does look better but you can tell under the chin area its just not right. Even a close shaved beard sticks down and the geoshell curves the hair back.
Ah, poo. Well, I'll pick it up anyway and see if I can't tug it around a little bit. Thanks for letting me know!
Yeah, the beard definitely has its drawbacks, but it's better than the flat, painted on look of LIE facial hair. I think the geoshell will be nice to have on hand for background characters where you don't need to waste computing and rendering power on detailed fibermesh, though I wouldn't put it on a portrait subject.
Did some edits here. Changed the base color to a light violet to take out some of the yellow also changed the transparency color and turned the base bump down to 1 on the skin.
Here I used Louie's build and face with Dain's skins. Notice how the eyes are not as glossy? I could not get that to go away while using Louie's skin even if I applied someone elses eyes. I do not know what would cause that. (I am not the most informed on the material settings)
With Dain's skin he looks like he's seen some stuff that cannot be unseen. O_O
Here are two "out of the box" renders of Louie (except I lowered the glossiness of his lips on the second one).
He's a really good looking character, imo. :)
