Consolidating files and deleting copies that no longer exist

edited December 1969 in Daz Studio Discussion

So i have never been a big user of DS 4.5/6.....but i have some items and am very interested in purchasing more.
I kind of gave up almost a year ago, because everytime i reinstall DS, it reads files/folders that i deleted in prior attempts. So when i start the program, it has multiple copies of stuff that no longer exist. It is very frustrating because i have to wade through all the junk to get to the actual file.

is there anyway to delete/get rid of all the redundant info? silly metadata

I'm not sure if this is it, or if it could have any negative side effects, however if you go into the Content Library pane and click the menu icon and select "Content DB Maintenance", there is an option called "Remove Orphaned File Rereferences", which sounds like perhaps what you are looking for.

EDITED TO ADD: There's also a "Consolidate File References" in there if you have duplicate thumbnails that need to be cleaned out.

Are you looking at Smart Content? That isn't a view of your content, it's a filtered and sorted view of a database of links to your content. This database is independent of the D|S program, and it's not unusual to see bits of earlier content collections persist after reinstallation, unless you explicitly tell D|S to wipe this content database and re-import the metadata into a fresh database.
