are ther any ways to work around this? i am using ds 2.3 for some older scenes which work fine, but the characters are transparent! no matter what i try... could it be because of my laptop?

Does it render transparent? If not, then it is probably an OpenGL issue with your graphics card (or chip)

I take it you have looked under the Surfaces pane to see what Opacity is set to?

Edited to correct the first line.

Some laptops have very poor graphics chips, but you may be able to find a newer driver for OpenGL that would fix it.

That's all I can think of for the moment.

it seems that my intel, will not update. my drivers... and i have tried so many ways of making it work... i like ds 2.3 because its not as complicated and i can make my 3d characters with ease on it too.
ANY other advide is so much appreciated right now, i have even made a fresh install . all my other Daz studios, 3 and 4.5, 4.6. are working just fine

It looks to me like the OpenGL version is too 'new' for DS2, and that may be the problem.

In that case, the only solution would be an older driver from a few years back (if one exists), but I don't think there would be any way to get it to work with DS2 as it is now.

Someone else may see this thread and offer some suggestions, I don't even have DS2 installed any more so I can't help at all, sorry.

Yes, I've seen this before, and it seems to be OpenGL drivers that are too new for DS2.3 to use correctly.
