Making Hair made for Iray compatible for 3Delight

Hi,
I'm trying to render a scene I made in 3Delight but the hair of the model (Elysa hair for Genesis 8 female, Elysa hair for Genesis 3 female) won't render. It seams they have both been made for Iray only.
Is there a way to adapt them for 3Delight?
(I wanted to attach files, but the images won't load)

Maybe with this scrip? https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/139326/irayto3delight-conversion-script/p1
Thanks E.Bru, That looks very useful.
I'm on something else right now, but I'll be giving it a try before the day is through.
It depends on why it doesn't render. If its just the shader then you don't need a convertor you can just apply the 3dl default shader and go from there.
Which hair are you having trouble with.
If I kenw why they don't render, I guess I woulldn't be here asking. I'm quite new to Daz, so why and how things don't and do, or should or shouldn't work is often beyond me.
I tried both versions of Elysa hair, for Genesis 8 female and for Genesis 3 female. They come out the same way. On Iray they cone out fine, though there is a odd looking shadow on the forehead near the eyebrow with the Genesis 8 version that isn't there with the Genesis 3 version. (I only found that out after goint through the trouble editing the picture.)
(Files are uploading fine now. So I joined a part of both my renders: 3Delight and Iray.)
Apparently Elysa hair, which I suppose is this one: https://www.daz3d.com/elysa-hair-for-genesis-3-and-8-females
The product description mentions custom shader, so it's a likely culprit.
If you don't manage to get what you want fiddling with the materials yourself, there's a "Touchable" expansion for that hair at Rendo, which includes 3DL materials.
Another option would be to use 3DL hair shaders on it. I don't know if you have her, but the Hana character includes 3DL hair shader presets, for example.
I tried running the schips, I selected the hair, as instructed, than double clicked on the script's icon... Nothing appened.
I tried a 'spot render' in 3Delight just to make sure, and obviously, the results were the same as before.
Yep, that's the one.
I don't have that character (Hanna), but I can check if one of the others I have has some included 3DL shaders.
As for 'fiddling' with the materials myself... I wouldn't even know where to begin. I guess there must be a video tutorial out there somewhere. Hopefully, one that doesn't make reference to a bunch of obsolete controls that disappeared with the latest versions of DAZ. (I come across a lot of those)(grrr)
Well no luck... no shaders included with the characters I have.
Select the hair in the scene tab, go to the surface pane and select all the hair surfaces. In your content library go to shader presets/Omnifreaker/Ubersurface and doubleclick the Ubersurface icon to apply the shader. Then, probably you need to reload the opacity maps. Still in the surface pane find the opacity strength channel, click on the little icon in the upper left corner and select browse, locate the missing maps to load them. If your not sure which maps go where load another copy of the hair with the default IRay shaders applied to it, find the IRay cut out opacity channel. Check which opacity map goes where.
With the proper maps loaded, turn on bump and adjust bump strength to your liking, probably something like 40% with min/max values -0,1/0.1. You also might want to use the hair specular maps in the specular strength slot, turn on specular and adjust strength, color (a mid gray will work) and roughness/sharpness. Try something like 80% roughness and 50% sharpness, turn on anisotropy for the most realistic specular highlight. Now it should look like hair;)
Edit to add: The product description say these maps are included:
Just to be clear... the basecolor textures go into diffuse color, bump maps into bump strength, specular maps into specular strength and transparency maps (also referred to as opacity maps) into opacity strength.
Thank you Sven,
I'll be working on that a little bit later on.
In the mean time, maybe you can help me with this other topic (problem): https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/444292/ibl-master-not-displaying-the-dome-in-iray-mode#latest
If everything else fails, I can change the air for something that has both an Irai and 3Delight compliant version. Just hope I dont have to put even more expense on 'plastc'. But I would really like to start euperimenting with 3DL rendering. If my HDRI dome can be displayed... see the thread above.
Thanks again Sven,
I have tried to follow your instructions and it partially worked. It now renders, but it looks more like wool (or even leather strands) than hair. I don't think it is worth the effort to try to tweak the parameters any further. I'll look into the hair styles I already have to find something else that work with both renderers. If I don't have anything satisfactory.. with what I have spent already in DAZ, it's not another $20 that will make much of a difference.
Now that I know what to look fore, I'll be able to buy more efficiently (hopefully).
Ok and good luck;) But if you need help with setting up that particular hair please post a render and I could give some further advice, it's simply a matter of adjusting the specular and bump settings.
Thanks again Sven,
I found another hair set that looks nice on my model. So it is good for that.
My problem now is with IBL Master. Or is it with the Sky dome settings? It does not rendeer in 3Delight. And the shadows don't seam to be coherent with those of the dome.
P.S.: I'm having troubles again uplaoding images. Only the jaypeg smaller version of my Iray render is getting through. I also have a jaypeg smaller version of the 3Delight render, put it gets stuck in the uploading process :(
