How to do a cutaway?
Hello guys! newbie in need of help here.
I download this model of sword here http://www.3dmodelfree.com/3dmodel/list421-1.htm
Imported it in my scene, with genesis, set it up alright, so far so good
Then I tried to add a sort of 'cutaway' effect to be able to see 'inside' the sword... as if there was a hole in the blade you see?
(the final goal was to use the built-in prop in DAZ to make as if there was a magical item hidden in the sword)
But I can't get it to do as I want.
The way I did it was to go in layered image, in the texture panel, and use a black form to tell the software where to make the texture invisible
But since the texture for both side of the sword is the same, it make a hole on both side instead of just one!
(The sword is a .obj, and there is one texture for the whole sword)
Is there any way at all, to make that cutaway effect on only one side?
Thanks for the help!

You could try using the Geometry Editor Tool http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/42088/, select the side you want, make it a new material zone and apply a transparency map to get a hole.
It worked perfectly! Thanks a lot!
Nice one, glad I could help
