Issues with exporting to 3dsmax 2014

Ive been having some trouble trying to export my scene from daz3d to 3dsmax.

Exporting to FBX works, though importing the fbx in 3dsmax gives me a blank scene as if I had never imported the fbx.

Exporting to OBJ works, though importing the obj in 3dsmax and maya gives me a "Error - Invalid Normal Index".

Exporting to COLLADA works. Importing the scene in 3dsmax works except for the fact where it does not import the textures of the figure (Genesis 2) properly. (See http://shortieserv.rstar.link/sharex/2014-08-02_08-38-08.jpg)

Which version of FBX did you use. Studio seems to default to 2012 but if you hit the drop down list there's a 2014 version.

Works fine for me in 3ds Max 2015

Edit: the clothes need adjusting but attached is a straight import

Ive actually figured it out now - seems like I forgot a setting while exporting.

Is there a way or technique to keep the clothes fitting during exports, or techniques to fix the issues after the export?

  • I have exactly the same problem. With old DAZ studio versions (4.6) it works fine. Just export as OBJ and import in 3DS Max 2015 without any problem. Then I upgrade to DAZ 4.8 and now with 4.9 everytime I import the OBJ it jump the ERROR Invalid normal index. Only can import as FBX but the cloth don't come with the pose. Any tutorial or video to resolve this?

    THanks!
