I'm learning how to create my own HDRI's using this method 

It works, but my first attempt turned out pale and blurry...when he says to change the resolution to 8000, is he referring to the max amount of samples?

    No, he suggests you change the size of the rendered image to 8000 by 4000 pixels, a 2:1 aspect ratio.

    Thanks, just muddling through...it's a learning curve for sure!

    Actually, he also says to increase the resolution (pixels) to 8000 (after increasing the video clip to full screen I actually saw which settings he modified, I also saw that he also has the auto headlamp set to never) ... still learning and giving it another shot! smiley
