Questions about the Movember contest:

1. Is postwork (and artistic extreme postwork) allowed?

2. Do you need a mustache?

3. Can you watermark and/or put your name/social media/website on the image?

4. Can you post on a social media account that doesn’t use your actual name but a company/branding name that you own?

  • I'll ping and ask :)

  • 1. Yes, post-work is allowed. The only rule is you have to use daz assets!
    2. You can create whatever you want that communicates something about Movember - mustache, mens mental health, etc.
    3. Yes. Please keep it small and in the corner to not distract from the artwork and judging.
    4. Yup! Just need to share the link when you submit your entry.

Oh... you are right. Thanks for mentioning that.

I had completely overlooked the "*Contest open to US residents only" line at the end of the contest rules sad

Does DeviantArt count as social media, or does it have to be like Facebook or something?  I only upload to Daz Gallery, DeviantArt, and Renderosity, period.  I have no use for any other social sites.

  • Not that I had a chance in * of winning, but yeah :-(

Quick question @Jack Tomalin, I know it says we can do an animation, is there a time limit? I'm not going to do a feature length or anything like that, but I have an idea that might be a couple of minutes. Just want to double check before I spend the next couple of weeks on it to find out it's not submittable lol. Thanks!

If not specified I'd say you would be fine, I'd say just keep it short and punchy.

When reading the Rules on entry I noticed that YouTube was left off the social media list.. Er Is YouTube allowed?    i do not use Facebook , I do not follow anyone on twitter, and i do not have a intra-gram account.  I post my animations to Youtube  & have been using #DazStudioAnimation #Ivysdomain for a wicked long time so does that leave me out of the contest too because I only use YouTube?

"2. Post your submission to social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) or your portfolio using the hashtags #MadeWithDaz and #Movember. Make sure you tag us!"

Edited for spelling Sorry I am very dyslexic

That's a good question since it does say or portfolio, which maybe YouTube could count as that, but I don't know if you can hashtag things on YT.

That's why I asked my questions. I do use YT as a portfolio so I was just wondering if t was allowed  because its not listed. But I also use sharecg.com too for a portfolio and the funny thing is Sharecg has removed daz studio from the art tool list recently So I can't use sharecg as my portfolio because it does not hashtag either. I do not use facebook for a number of reasons. mostly I just don't need another account to manage . I have a twitter but it came with my website and I don't use it for anything and i do not have any followers on it anyway. and what is Instagram and why would i need it?  would it be just another account to manage.   I rather make art than mange social media accounts and in this day and age there is nothing social about social media. Its become more like Hate-Media IMO.

I couldn't agree more. I've unfollowed most people on my social media accounts recently and just have the Daz Facebook groups to see what renders people are doing, baby panda videos, and a couple of movie sites, otherwise it's just too much right now. But Instagram might be worthwhile to look into because it's all pictures and short videos. I post renders on Facebook sometimes, but I put everything up on Instagram that I'm happy with. But like you said, it is one more account to manage, but I just log on when I have something to put up. Looking forward to what you come up with for the Movember challenge if you decide to do it!

That's OK with me but I wonder why this is one of the conditions. There's probably an obvious reason.

Yeh maybe, but it says, "this promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, any third party including Movember, Nvidia or any other 3rd party."

I think that enetring contests like this might not be kosher in all countries around the world, given that the conditions for entry are strictly and exclusively goverened by the laws (litigation) of the US. Other countries might consider that runs counter to their own laws.

Either way I wish every entrant the best of luck and I'm sure we'll see some amazing art-work being offered.

  • As far as we are aware it's related to lottery laws and/or customs, since there is a cash prize and a physical prize that would have to be shipped. Daz did want to make the contesdt open to all, and did try to find a way of making it so.

Why not offer a non-U.S. with Daz store only prize?

If that is the issue it would presumably need a separate prize for each country, or at least trading block - that's a lot of prizes.

That doesn't make sense what about the PC competetions they give daz store credit, why is it suddenly not possible to do so; are the PC competitions going to be for US residents only now? And what about the Raining men competition?

Heh well if we started giving out $3000 graphics cards each month; then yes.. but since it's just small gift cards I think we're ok :)

The gist of Richards posts seems to imply that even store credit has problems, its beggining to sound just like a lot of excuses...

So are you suggesting store credit for non-US winners and hardware for the US? I had read the suggestion to which I was replying as offering the same type of rpize, separately, in each nation/block.

Good news for non-US residents interested in the contest: Daz just posted on social media that international submissions are now accepted.
