dForce Simulation problems force full system logout/reboot.
Hello friends.
I'm running 4.12 on OSX 10.13.6, and Daz has started royally screwing with my system. I run a dForce simulation and within a few minutes the whole system restarts, returning me to the login screen. But not the login screen afterhaving logged out, but the login screen after a total reboot of the system. And not the login screen after an actual lengthy reboot, I mean the immediate resetting of the system in a few seconds. There is no doubt that it is DazStudio causing this, as it is consistent and repetitive.
What the hell kind of issue with this program can cause my whole computer to immediately reboot within a few seconds? And is there any way at all to address this? Ideally without recommending OS updates or beta installations please, because I can assure you I'm not risking the compatability of everything I have on account of a new OS.
Anything solid would be a help, though. Thanks,
H

It could be an issue with whatever OpenCL driver your system is using (what is the OpenCL Provider in the Advanced tab of Simulation Settings?). It could also be a hadrware fault, something that is triggered by the dForce calculations and not other actions, but that sounds unlikely if rendering is OK.
Have you tried this in a terminal window?
% log show --predicate 'eventMessage contains "Previous shutdown cause"' --last 24h
/sbin/shutdown
. This does not indicate an issue with your system. This is a very old error, from the days of Carbon. It’s unknown if this is actually relevant in macOS shutdown codes. Leave a comment below if you’ve got any more information.
