OT - Sean Connery (1930-2020) R.I.P.

Legendary actor Sean Connery has died, aged 90.
One of my favourite actors - perhaps I'm biased because we're both Scottish, but I think I've liked him in pretty much every movie he did.

Bummer. R.I.P. 90 years old eh? What a life that kind lived. Amazing really!
The one and only Bond.
I will drink a bad martini in his honor tonight.
Shaken not stirred I so agree, the only James Bond RIP
RIP
And much, much more. A really great actor. RIP
Agreed - RIP
Not the original Bond, but the best.
If only he could live twice.
I first saw him in Disney's 'Darby O'Gill and the Little People' and got scared out of my mind. Bond of course was an iconic role, but his later roles were so outstanding. I named my son Sean after him.
My prayers to his family and friends and thanks for his life.
Mary
He was amazing in the Bond films, of course.
But I think my favorite film for him was The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
I had such a crush on Sean Connery. and not only was he a great Bond but I loved him in the Highlander, DragonHeart and Indiana Jones, The first knight, entrappement so many great movies, a true passing of a Icon .
From Bond, to Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez, to Allan Quatermain, and many, many other roles throughout your carrier, thank you for bringing some entertainment into our lives. Rest In Peace, Sir Thomas.

RIP Sean
Condolences to his friends, family and fans. I never got into James Bond so I've not actually even seen him in a show.
Red Oktober has joined the Long Patrol. One ping only.
I was shocked that he was 90 - wow, time really flies! We should all be so lucky as to live to see 9 decades. Rest in Peace, Sir Sean Connery.
Let my armies be the rocks, and the trees, and the birds in the sky.
He was a good Bond, but I really thought The Man Who Would Be King was rather excellent
When he was knighted by her Majesty, he decided to remain Scots, wearing a kilt. Remember, always be proud where you come from, because it defines who you are. RIP Sir Connery.
Bummer, but at least he had a long and full life. For me, the best Bond ever. From Bond, to King Richard in Robin Hood, to Indiana Jones Dad, I loved him in nearly every role he had, but one that stands out for me is in Highlander
RIP
In Zardoz, he was from a future where people wore DAZ costumes all the time...

ROFL I'm so confused - amused but confused. Outfit looks (kind of?) sci-fi, gun looks like a 100+ year old pistol from the old west, moustache looks like something from the 70s. Not going to lie though - It's fun to see a guy wearing a type of outfit that usually we only get to see on women. lol
The gun is good. The penis is bad.
You really ought to watch the movie Zardoz if you get a chance. A kind of different take on the Post Apocalypse Holocost Splatterflick. Zardoz actually had a story althought it was rather strange.
I Googled it and found the trailer. lol Yeah... no. After watching the trailer I can't say that's something I want to spend nearly 2 hours of my life on. The 70's drug culture is oozing out of that and then some. lol I wonder who was tripping harder, the writer when he wrote it or the director when he directed it. :P
RIP Bond-Ramirez-Quartermain-Mason-Jones-etc-etc
Zardoz is actually pretty deep despite the cheesy acting and terrible effects. It's far better written than Barbarella (better known only because of Jane Fonda getting naked). It's worth a watch IMO but I like old scifi.
But I am a child of the 70's. So references about "Better Living Through Chemestry" in a movie doesn't bother me much. But you are right about the eclectic nature fo that movie. The writers and director were definately on someting. Maybe the producer too. But it WAS the 70's when drugs were cool and safe sex ment his wife/her shusband was out of town. Thank God I grew out of that when I did.
I think that Sean Connery did Zardoz on a lark. Wasn't his normal kind of role even though Zed was the big man hero of the movie and he did get then girl in the end and the ending hinted that their offspring would save the world. Luckily he had much more substantial roles.
Which movie was it that he was "The Green Knight"?
Yeah Barbarella was pretty bad. And the really bad part was while she was naked, you never actually saw much of anything. It was 1968 and nudity was strictly verboten until then so they sorta eased it into it.
Sword of the Valiant. Speaking of epically bad movies no one should ever watch.
I'm sure both Zardon & Barbella are on regular rotation on HBO. Showtime, Cinemax, and so on for those that want to see them. That red costume looks very uncomfortable. I read Sean Connery was actually in the Mister Universe contest before Anold Schwarzenegger was and like Arnold, that was his whole in into acting.
Speaking of sci-fi kitsch, I saw an episode of The Bionic Woman and The Six Million Dollar Man back to back on Wednesday and while that "Bionic Special Effects Music" is annoying, their bionics don't seem so preposterously impossible nowadays actually. Lindsay Wagner was even prettier than I remembered. Farah Fawcett-Majors was the guest star on that episode too. You can literally hear their voices ooze with their carefully taught Hollywood accents. As a kid I thought their enunciation was just the way they talked but clearly they didn't grow up talking like that.
