Falloff – shader mixer - custom curve layer

I would like to make a shader where the transparency of the surface varies with angle between the surface normal and the angle from that surface point to the camera

This would also be the way to make iridescent surfaces

I have searched and searched, I am very surprised by the lack of information and documentation on the shader blocks

From what I found on a NVIDIA site, it seems like the block / function “custom curve layer” is the key, but I can find zero documentation on how to use it, inputs from where, output to what

Any help would be greatly appreciated
