Smart Content Problems
OK, so my hard drive crashed. Thankfully, I had been backing up my DAZ content on an external just in case this happened. I copied all of the content to my laptop, loaded DAZ 3D, and then that's when all of the problems started.
I can see my content in the content library. It is registering it there. However, none of my content is being recognized by the Smart Content panel. I've tried every trick I know. Uninstalling, re-installing CMS (yes I deleted by dbs files while doing this).
I tried to re-import the meta data.
This isn't the first time I've had to re-install my content, but this is the first time I've run into this much trouble with the Smart Content just not showing up anything at all.
Again, all of my content is showing up in the content library, but none of it is showing up as smart content. Obviously, there is something wrong and no database is getting read at all. If I try to install anything new, it wants to install ALL of my previous purchases. As you can imagine, this would take forever.
Help!!!
Jason

It looks like you didn't back up the folders containing the databases, or the DIM folders either?
What version of DAZ Studio are you using, and is any of the material on the old HDD still available?
Jimmy:
Thanks for responding! Nope, never thought to back up the databases or DIM files. Sadly, the old hard drive is gone to Acer in Texas (boo!!). I'm using 4.6 latest download 64-bit.

When you install the latest version of 4.6, you can elect to use the PostgreSQL database system, which has been shown to cause less problems that the Valentina one which was used prior to that.
The DIM stuff is held in
C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager
and the library files are held in
C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library
DIM uses the 'Manifest' files to know what it has already downloaded and installed, so I don't think there is a workaround for that.
I am not sure what you can do to fix this, it may be a case of reinstalling everything again to get the manifest files and Metadata that the database files need. You can, of course, organise your own content the way that you want it by using Categories, and you can export User Data (and back it up) from the Content Library drop-down menu, so that it wont be lost again, so it would not be time wasted.
Hopefully Mike or some of the other mods will see this thread, and may be able to offer you better advice. Just hang on a while.
