Sharing content on Google Drive

Hello!

I am interested to find out how to use the Google drive as a shared folder on 2 computers. I did my best to understand this from forums but with no luck. I can t figure out how to set the "My Daz3D Library" as a shared folder, where the second computer should automatically update/sync the new installed files from the first one. Is that possible?
I created the "My Google Drive" folder in my computer too. But the files aren't t showing there..what I am doing wrong, what am I missing?
I really need help with this. Any advise will help me.

thank you very much!

  • Google Drive is accessible from any of your computers set up to be using the same email etc. As from your main computer you sign into Google and then go to Google Drive, so too when you're on your second computer you would sign into Google and then go to Google Drive.

I don't use Desktop cloud helpers. Google Drive does offer a desktop folder so there should be instructions with that on how to sync the computer to the folder.

so this should work with "My Drive" from Google Drive, I understand that I also need to map that Drive folder from my desktop?

Can I set the installation of the content from DIM, to go in my local folder AND to this shared folder?

    thank you!!

I've been up all night, hope this makes sense. I'm understanding that you have/want your content on your main computer and then also again in the cloud which is Google Drive. I normally install things manually. Did try DIM for a bridge download and as I recall, no, you set DIM to download to a particular location [now that you might want to keep in the cloud] and then to install to "one" location [i.e. your computer].

I haven't tried Drive desktop [had enough of a fit with another's so no more clouds], but as I recall the concept is that from a particular folder on one's computer, any files put into said folder will automatically be synched to the cloud's folder. Obviously one has to be online and signed in all over the place for that to work. On the second computer I think you would set up Drive Desktop and put a folder with the same name in the same place on that computer to be the folder for synching. As only one computer would be working at a time, hopefully the information links stored in the folders will appear the same on either computer. Now unless you've got a heck of alot more storage than I do on my computer you're going to want that synching folder to be "the" folder into which you want "all the content" for D/S. In D/S via the content manager or whatever it's called, set the pathways to look for its content in that folder [or the appropriate subfolder]. Keep the basic root folders for content named appropriately, i.e. something like: NAMEofSYNCHfolder\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library. Whether or not D/S will work with content like this or not I do not know. Might want to test the matter with a handful of folders first.

If you have more questions hopefully somebody else who has tried or does this will come by, I think it's time for me to get some sleep ;-) [please to pardon any typos or missed words]
