G8 Fingernail artifacts

Howdy all,

I'm constantly plagued by weird fingernails on my G8 Ladies. Turns out that with smoothing on the figure, if you dial up the lengt of the fingernails, they act as an external object.  Turning smoothing off, or smoothing iterations to zero "fixes" it.

  • Yah, pretty sure ive seen this since Genesis 2 (maybe older). You can also see this happen just by combining different morphs, they start fighting with each other eventually.

    Just curious, why do you use smoothing on your G8? I tried using smoothing as far back as V4 but stopped. I like a rough skin look though.

  • I don't remember ever turning it on, so no idea. There's no collision object, so it really shouldn't do anything, or maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, if I did want to use smoothing, perhaps for collision with other objects, this would be a problem.

    Thats odd. If smoothing was automatically being applied to G8 I would call that a bug.

    Ive seen smoothing applied before for purposes of collision with other objects, ive always just thought it was so touch and go that I dont use it. Never really been that good with it either. Clever use of shadow works with me as long as its suttle collision anyways.
