I wouldn't have thought so but let's wait for confirmation.

In fact I want to know if there is a limit of number of entries (datas) in a categorie (or a in sub categorie obviously).

There is bound to be a limit, but whether anyone would ever reach it in normal circumstances is debatable.

How many entries are you thinking of using? You could look on the PostgreSQL website for an answer I suppose, but the limit is probably something like 32,000 or similar. Were you thinking of creating thousands of sub-folders?

    EDIT:

I found this on the PostgreSQL website

    Limit Value

    Maximum Database Size Unlimited
    Maximum Table Size 32 TB
    Maximum Row Size 1.6 TB
    Maximum Field Size 1 GB
    Maximum Rows per Table Unlimited
Maximum Columns per Table 250 - 1600 depending on column types
    Maximum Indexes per Table Unlimited

I ask for that because with the old system, I had meeting such a problem on one sub categorie. Why that categorie but not the other ones, I don't know. May be it was corrupted.

I think PostgreSQL is a very good solution to manage categories and it seem to me very stable.

Yes, I think PostgreSQL is very stable, at least on my system.

I haven't heard anything detrimental about it so far, and it doesn't seem to cause the same problems that the old CMS used to cause.

I have over 400 Categories and 2000 Subcategories with the new PostgreSQL DB and not only does it not fall over or lose stuff (and hasn't in many months since coming out) it retains everything. Yes, I have > 800 Gb of content collected over years........and years.

But still smarting from the old Valentina problems I do continue to "Export User Data" on a regular basis.

Hope this helps and puts your mind at rest.

    Cheers

If you are dealing with a lot of custom categories in PostgreSQL there is a db program over at ShareCG that strictly deals with customizing categories and placing content in multiple categories (if it is your wish). It backs up and restores the database in seconds (not the content files... just the data stored in PostgreSQL).

    Here's the link you requested:

I was pleasantly surprised that once I got PostgreSQL working in DAZ how this utility came in handy.

    Hello

I have some questions about this plugin.

First I cannot connect to my database. Is there some configuration to do before to be able to connect to the
    PostgreSQL database ?

Second what are the actions we cannot do directly in Daz ? It seem to me that all copy/cut/paste/duplicate/move/delete actions can be done directly in Content Manager.

Third about backups, if I make a copy of C:/users/../appdata/roaming/daz3d directory I can also save the database.

I thank you in advance to share your experience.

Do you have PostgreSQL installed? It is a separate install from the latest version of DS4.6.3.52, and you will find it in your DIM ready to download section. There is also a program in there, to transfer over the Valentisna/CMS databases to PostgreSQL which you also need to run.

If you are still using Valentina/CMS, then this download is no use to you.

Yes. PostgreSQL is installed and works well.

I don't use valentina since the upgrade.

I will let someone else who actually uses this program to tell you about it.

It is not a plugin, but a standalone program to work with PostgreSQL, and it is a trial version as far as I can see. I uninstalled it again.

    Thanks.

No matter : I can manage custom categories throug Content Manager and save database by copy C:/users/../appdata/roaming/daz3d directory.

I just wanted to know what are the features of Tamer v2 that we cannot find in Daz.

I'm a user of this and I thought I was using PostgreSQL also until this program would not connect to the database. This link was taken directly from ShareCG to see if you are actually using PostgreSQL:
To tell if DAZ is using PostgreSQL then go here for info:
    h**ps://helpdaz.zendesk.com/entries/45231914-PostgreSQL-FAQ#q14

The things I like about this program is that the backup is point and click and you do not need to know where the originating data is located... just where you create the archive. Another thing is I can select multiple categories and copy or move them into another category where if I'm not mistaken in DAZ you have to do them one at a time. The rest is more convenience than anything. DAZ is getting better on the DB side but still has some rough edges.

    Hi,

Well I downloaded it (Tamer V2) from ShareCG, and installed it. Then ran it (as Administrator)...then waited....and waited for something to happen...nada. Let it run for an hour, still nothing. I checked "Task Manager" and yes, it seemed to have started PostgreSQL, but then nothing, and nothing...!
Finally gave up. It's still installed but I really do not know how to get it working and the ReadMe is of no use at all!

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Not urgent, 'cause I am very comfortable with the DS Categories and manipulating them anyway. Just curious as to what it can do.

    Cheers

I really don't know what to tell you except make sure that DAZ is actually using PostgreSQL. I've attached a screen shot of my meager little stuff but again I'm a real noob to DAZ. If anything you can email them a question and see what happens. They responded to my questions fairly quickly.

Well, I don't know about the program but the easiest way to check if PostgreSQL is actually running is to check the Content Library menu. If the Stop CMS and Start CMS options are shown, then it is running. As a poster previously stated, the conversion script should also be run in DIM to convert the Valentina data for PostgreSQL.
