Dynamic Cltoh in DAZ? Also, DAZ Stopped Search Feature!

I just downloaded the newest version of DAZ Studio last night, so I am up to date with my software.

Now, I don't know what happened, but even with the older version I had, and now with this, I can't search my content library! The search bar is still there, but when I type in a word to search and hit enter, DAZ Studio doesn't do anything. It just doesn't search, at all. I did not change any settings that I am aware of, so what happened?

Also, I am interested in learning to finally use dynamic cloth, something I have never done before. Specifically, I want to do something simple first--draping a blanket on my sleeping Genesis figure. I have heard DAZ has a cloth room but have yet to find it, or anything about it even in the forums (any threads about dynamic cloth are a couple years old, anyway, I think). Also, do I have to buy a dynamic "blanket" or can I make one?

Thank you for any help!

for dynamic cloth it has to be made by using very expensive Optitex software 10K in price
Martin a forum regular and former Optitex employee does this and has a wonderful site full of freebies too
    http://www.optitex-dynamiccloth.com/
there is also stuff in the Daz store if you search under optitex

    as for your set up
you prob have not added your paths to content in preferences
I will find a link if somebody else does not first

It sounds like your CMS has stopped working, which the search bar uses. In the Content Library tab, are there Products and Categories sections, and if so is there anything in them?

Yes, of course all of my items are still listed. Nothing changed, except for the fact the search does nothing when I type into it. Yet all of my content is still there and perfectly fine!

    Thank you as well wendy-catz!

And is your Smart Content pane working as well?

CMS is used for many things inside DAZ Studio, and the search option is one of them as Mike says. When you installed the latest version of DAZ Studio (4.6.3.52?) did you opt to install the PostgreSQL database, or did you stay with CMS?

Can you please check in the Task Manager to see if ContentManagementService is running as a process?

I don't want to sound foolish but what do you mean "Smart Content Pane"?

I do not see CMS listed in my Task Manager, but honestly I do not think it ever was. Also, this problem started before I installed the latest version of DAZ Studio.

On a good note though, that dynamic cloth site helped! I got a drape easily used as a blanket!

Smart Content, Products and Categories, as well as the Search option all rely on CMS to work. It sound like yours is not working, since you can't find it in Task Manager.

You need to go to Start > All Programs > DAZ 3D > Content Management Service, and start it from there. That should work if you did not install PostgreSQL along with the latest version of DAZ Studio.

I downloaded and installed DAZ as I normally do, so if PostgreSQL is not something that automatically installs with it, then you're right, I do not have it installed. What is it?

It is a replacement for the Valentina database which CMS uses to populate the Smart Content pane (Window > Tabs(Panes) > Smart Content)

PostgreSQL has been found to be a lot more stable than Valentina when working with DAZ Studio, and it does not require the CMS to be used at all. If you also use Carrara, and the Smart Content in that application too, then you should not install PostgreSQL as it does not work with Carrara at present.
