Anyone using this program: Pegasus 2.0? Edit: Need more help about making clothing!

Although I have this program - Pegagus 2.0 - for quite some time I have only installed it now for the very 1st time. I am very new to any kind of modeling and have found some videos at YouTube but they are all demonstrations for the latest 3.0 version. Earlier today I have find a .pdf at ShareCG related to this program as well but it's marked Part 1, not sure if a Part 2 will follow since it was written some time ago as well.
My question though is if I will be able to follow the instructions from the videos for the 3.0 version when using 2.0? As I have mentioned I have zero experience and not sure if there are main differences between the earlier and latest versions. Just want to mention that I have tried to contact the vendor from here as well as via Renderosity mail but no answer. In a forum at Rendo I run across regarding Pegasus, other people also can't get any replies as well!!
And another thing, can I use any models done in Pegasus 2.0 with DS 4 as well since it seems it's mainly for Poser users? How do I get my characters over (export them from DS 4) into Pegasus? Copying and pasting perhaps? Any ideas?
I have also noticed that 3.0 have additions for Genesis. But can't Genesis be imported into 2.0 as well? I really can't upgrade due to finances. :-/
I have Hexagon 2 and have found some YouTube videos and written tuts (some at Deviantart) for this too. Not sure which of these programs will be the best to learn to make clothing items for beginners!
EDIT - nothing to do with the above original question:
Just a general question I want to have advice on please. I have downloaded, but not tried it out, the clothing resources by JoeQuick for G2M and G2F. If I have for instance a mesh without any front middle seams, how do I “cut” it into 2 parts, is it possible? For example, a pre-made full bodysuit or top without front seamlines which I want to change into front opening. Wendy, or any other person, I want to try making a cyclist jersey as add-on to Wendy’s set which can open and close and then later on add the zipper when I have learned to make zipper that is. Can one do this to a pre-made mesh, the cutting part that is? If my questions sounds very silly then I am apologizing but I have zero knowledge of anything! :smirk:
Any help and advice will be much appreciated!

Unless the apps UI or toolset has changed dramatically between 2 and 3, you should be able to follow the basics. Marc usually includes video tutorials with his apps. Check the product page in your products library to make sure all of the files were downloaded and installed if you used the DIM. If you did it manually, double check.
If there is missing documentation, email the vendor. Is the pdf from ShareCG done by the vendor himself or was it done by another person who posted part 1 but for whatever reason didn't complete or post part 2?
Thank you, I will have a look. In fact the videos I have found are actually by the vendor himself under the name of: 3DUtils aka Markdc at Rendo (found both names under 1 freestuff item at Rendo).
The ShareCG partly tut is here: http://www.sharecg.com/v/50408/browse/3/PDF-Tutorial/Pegasus-Modeler-2.0-Hints-Tips-01-Making-A-Torso
Hi launok. I upgraded to Pegasus 3.0 earlier this year because Pegasus 2.0 was having a problem with my newer Windows 7 Pro laptop, even though it worked great on my old Windows XP Pro laptop.
That said, my Pegasus 2.0 download included a bunch of video tutorials the creator included with the software purchase. When downloaded and installed, I found 6 folders with tutorials in them with a HTML file in each to help you access them through your web browser.
If you didn't find these with your download, maybe going to your Product Library and downloading the file again will give you the creator's tutorials. The only thing of note is, he talks very low, and even though I turned the sound on my laptop up all the way, I found it easier to hear what he was saying when I plugged a set of earbuds into to my laptop.
Thanks for your reply. I use Win XP still however this version is not supported anymore but I will only be able to get Win7 up later via my son-in-law who has facilities to buy stuff from overseas as is also now the case with buying Fugazi's video lessons (Silo/Hexagon) one or two at a time while now on 30% off special. I am a pensioner with no finances and has to get my family to help out, LOL!
I am sure the videos I have is then those you referring too as the voice levels are very low. I am actually not English and try my best to follow the steps per video. But at least one can follow somehow.
For Hexagon 2 tutorial (No Free, very useful) for clothes: http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-starter-kit
This have a base cloth mesh for genesis.

there was a genesis free version, but was retired.
I suposse you can use these mesh for cloth in pegasus
I installed Pegasus 3.0 in Win 8.1 / 64 a couple of days ago, seems to work allright except for a few minor GUI oddities. Among others, the viewport goes white when you do certain things like selecting something from the Toolbox. It comes back again though if you click on it or hover the mouse over it. Could be graphics cart related, I don't know.
I've not been able to make it work in Win 7 / 64 though, but that's probably graphics cart related as it seems to work allright in Win 7 for some.
I've used this program on my 64 PC but I personally don't like it. The tutorials too are hard to hear and understand.
I've tried lots of different modelling programs, but I still keep going back to Silo.
Wendy, thank you for your input too! I also think I must rather stick to Silo (1st) and Hexagon (2nd) since there are way more video tutorials as well as written tuts, i.e. by Patience55 and many others on the Web as for Pegasus. My son-in-law is going to try and get me the video tuts from Fugazi1968 as he can since he has the facilities. He said the 'zipper' lesson is on it's way since it's affordable as I really want to try that too with some clothing lessons I have. But off course I have to start with the clothing lessons first!
I have also follow Patience55's thread for making clothing and have many of her written tuts stored somewhere, older and latest lessons. Just have to go and look for them as many she has taken off from ShareCG and Deviantart with only some remaining.
Regarding my computer my brother's friend who is a head in an IT environment told me my 32-bit computer running under WinXP of only 74 gb capacity (1gb ram) is way too old to add more memory ram to it and it will be much better to buy a new pc ... but with what? Only in about 2 years my fixed investment will become available to take money from that. If I try to end the investment now I will be penalized and can loose money which will be a very unwise thing to do. This investment is giving me about R2000 interest per month to add to my monthly pension but the total together covers only normal living costs including housing and not for any other expenses to buy pc's or whatever. One thing I am very happy about is that some 8 years back I have decided, and stick all the way thereto, is to buy everything cash only and have no outstanding debts anywhere. Debts is a killer which ruins many households totally. At least I can sleep peacefully! :)

I think you will be better using hexagon or silo I would say blender but for me that is far from beginner friendly. As for Pegasus 2 or 3 I would forget it, I have version 2 and 3 but the lack of support for it has just been left collecting dust.
At least as your searches have shown hexagon has a fair few tutorials where as Pegasus is little known anywhere, you would think the creator would do a lot more in tutorials, but its like the only time you see him is when he is selling an updated version.
and he appears to use 3d max than his own product looking at the tutorial ay renderosity.
You will be better to use a program that a lot can answer your questions than a program that a few own but never use.
Steve.

Just chiming in to answer your JoeQuick's starter bodysuits question.
Yes, you can cut a seam line down the front, and the back of them. Cutting up the starter meshes is the point. Joe just gave us outfit blanks to work from, and you will need to learn different tools in whichever software you choose to alter them in. Some software have several different ways to achieve the same outcome.
Example for cutting a centerline in the mesh using Hexagon would be to use Connect in Vertex Tools. Select all the center edges (horizontal edges going from top to bottom of view-port/Y-axis) by a Ring selection (select one horizontal edge, then Ring select/shortcut key: K), and then select Connect. It will cut all the selected edges in half (center of each edge) creating a new centerline loop. This is just one of the many ways to achieve this...
Your best bet will be to read the manual, so you can get a handle on the myriad of ways to handle multiple situations.
Hope this helps...
Thank you for your reply and input. I agree that my best bet will be to look at the Hexagon and/or Silo manuals first apart from the videos. :-)
Laura go to Youtube and search for Silo Tutorials by Fugazi or John Holding (same person). He has some basic ones on there.
They will help you to get started.
Plus there are a lot Glen souther ones as well. His are good as well.
Hi Wendy, thanks again. I know I had seen some months back Silo tutorials by Fugazi which I have downloaded and after searching found the other day on my many disks. But I couldn't find his tutorials after a search again recently as I did not know he has another name! Thanks for letting me know! Currently downloading the stockings videos! Well, actually I am now downloading as many videos for Silo I can get as well as for Hexagon. I have also a set for creating 'Peter Pan' clothing and a dress by Jen Greenlees but these are Hexagon ones. Between the 2 programs I am sure I will get somewhere with the learning! At least Fugazi's way of explaining is quite good to follow the steps. There are also some videos without audio or only music playing which is annoying and better to put the sound off. But I prefer these with voice audio as Fugazi and Jen Greenlees to understand! Although my native language is not English (I speak Afrikaans) the way they talk are great to follow. :-)
I like Fugazi's Silo tutorials as well. When I first got Pegasus 2, I couldn't find any tutorials other than the ones that came with the software. It's frustrating to know the tutorials are hard to follow because they're hard to hear without headphones, but I feel a little better than it wasn't just me and my laptop, and that it was actually the videos themselves.
I don't use Pegasus much, as I'm a long-time Blender user, but I played with Silo's demo last year (always good to have a second modelling app for some things), and then was able to purchase it inexpensively last month, so I was glad I didn't uninstall the trial version when the 30 days were up. I actually got to model my first ever piece of clothing from one of Fugazi's tutorials.
I have Blender but it seems very confusing although a free program. Wendy inspired me so much with the work she does and also used Fugazi's tutorials to learn from! If it wasn't for her, I would most probably never be interested. Apart from clothing my main aim are buildings to complete a town. If I do succeed I will give them away for sure. There are many great models but the prices are just crazy high, i.e. sites as 3DRivers and Turbosquid, etc. Although I am trying to learn SketchUp too via tutorials for this purpose.
