Your smart content is called smart because it knows what to associate with- aka, clothes for Genesis will be shown if you have Genesis selected in the scene and go to the clothing section in Smart Content. Those products have meta data.

Do you know you can create your own categories in Content Library and have your own arrangement there? Under Categories you create your categories (Categories>Default>Right click and select Create a subcategory) to make your categories. Then you just right click the item you want >Create A Category From> then choose this file only or the file and it's subfolders, and then you select the parent category.

In the Content Library you will find DAZ Studio Formats and Poser Format data. The organization of the libraries under DAZ Studio Formats and Poser Formats reflects the organization of the data files on the disk, although some of the file directories in these libraries are hidden.

You will also find the top level Products and Categories in the Content library panel. These reflect information stored in your Content Manager Data base. The metadata which is part of newer products from the DAZ Store will include include category and product entries for the items. Categories allow you to organize things so you don't have to remember if the item is in a DAZ Format Library or a Poser Format library or exactly where. DAZ creates the Default categories for most new products, but some older products in the DAZ Store and almost all products you buy at other stores or get on freebie sites will not include any meta data.

The Smart Content panel uses another layer of meta data that specifies what figures or props each item can be applied to. Then based on what you have selected in the viewport, the Smart Content panel will only display things that can be applied to it.

Most Genesis and Genesis 2 content in the DAZ store include meta data so it shows up in Smart Content. Only the newest V4/M4 content in the DAZ store has meta data. Much of the older content does not show in the Smart Content panel. Almost all of the content you buy at other stores or get at freebie sites will not show up in smart content.

It is possible to create your own smart content for products that don't have it, but it is a lot of work. Most people don't bother.
