Is dForce crawling for anyone else?

Since the update, dForce is so slow it's not useable. I finally had everything figured out for my animation, read up on all the settings and thought it had a handle on it, and it was working great before the update. (and it was a challenging scene, falling into water and swimming up in a long dress and long hair. Now, it's taking hours and failing part way through.
There was an update to dForce in this beta/new release, right? What changed?
(and before someone says my computers suck, I've got a p5000 in the laptop, and a p6000 in the desktop, 64 gigs of ram, and decent cpu's (two in the desktop even, so 40 cores).)

For really long animations, I have found that something always goes wrong with the dForce simulation. Either the clothing explodes or it stretches too much. I prefer to use the VWD plugin instead.
Exploding, if it isn't down to cloth getting trapped between intersecting or near touching bode parts, is usually down to not being able to diffuse the energy quickly enough (especially if there are quick movements). Increasing iterations and/or subframes can help with this.
Thank you Richard! I will try that!
Any insight into just the general speed being slower?
also, what is the VWD plug-in, it's not in the store that I can find....
Virtual World Dynamics (aka VWD) is sold at Renderosity.
thank you so much!
