rtx3080 10GB

Hello,

I want to upgrade my Win10/i7 computers a little bit and plan to buy a rtx3080 10GB (currently i have a Geforce 1060 6GB). It is already a topic in several categories and I have understood that the rtx3080 is very good.
But I can not judge how good it is exactly.

Can anyone tell me how much performance increase it has to Daz (approximately) compared to my old card. I would be especially interested in the Iray render time and the display in the preview window.

In some articles it has been said that the Iray renderer partially does not work with the 3080. I think these are older postings, but I still want to know if the problem still exists.

Besides the advantages of Daz, I would also like to know how the card affects Photoshop, 3DS Max& Painter.

  • I would like to know as well.  I'm considering upgrading to an a 3080 for even faster animation renders.

Not sure what "partially doesn't work" is supposed to mean.
30xx cards are not supported by the versions of Iray included in DS before 4.12.2 beta, you'll need that or 4.14 to use a 3080 card.

Check the Iray benchmark thread, that should give you an idea of the performances in DS: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/6213951/#Comment_6213951

I have the RTX 3080 and it performs beautifully.

I had the GTX 980ti before and it is such a huge difference in render times and performance.

I render that would have taken 45 minutes to render, renders now in 5 minutes.

    Everything got so much better.

I am not a tech person, as you can see from my answer, but I can tell you, go for it, you won't regret it :)

  • Bear in mind rumours of a 3080Ti - potentially with 20GB RAM and more CUDA cores - i.e. placing it between the 3080 and 3090 - to combat the next gen AMD cards releasing soon.

Not this year though, maybe next.  If you can wait that long... A lot of people would prefer 3070 level with 16Gb, in terms of price at least.

There is always a better card on the horizon. But I want it now:-)

@Petra: This is a clear and easy to understand answer:-)
The 3080 runs with the current DAZ and is MUCH faster...thanx a lot...
Your old RTX was even a bit faster than my 1060.
